I don't see how he has any value as a player, no matter how good he plays. Even if he could somehow "make a difference" for a potential contender, they would still have to come up with 20 million worth of salary that the Rockets would want. That just seems far-fetched. First of all, what team could you just add McGrady to and make them favorites? He's not a guy that just fits into any situation. He couldn't even fit with a new coach on his own team. On top of that, say you somehow find a team like that, you still have to be able to match the salaries in a trade. That's why I don't see how he has any value as a player. His only value is an expiring contract. He doesn't help the Rockets at all either because he doesn't make them a contender and he cuts into younger guys' playing time. If he's not traded, there's no reason for him to see the court this year, especially after the crap he pulled last year.
How is there NO reason for him to see action? Because he attempted to come back sooner rather then later to attempt to play on a knee that needed microfracture? Please....
I think Yao does not want to play with Tracey ever again so the Rockets and Yao are faking the imjury so that he will never have to play with that quitter again. haha
You people get too emotional over stuff. If McGrady has his legs back at all he will be a solid player and the Rockets will happily use him next year. If he is back to a semblance of his old self there will be teams out there looking to attain him if only as an expiring contract. The Rockets will move him if the right deal comes along. The need to move him at all costs was removed once Yao went down.
Word. It's not so much a "theory" as it is common sense. Of course that's how they are playing it. Perception is the key word folks!
Save this tired excuse. The guy didn't put the work in and came into camp fat and out of shape. Stop acting like he was trying to be the hero and came up short. If he had worked as hard on rehab last summer as he did scouring the country until he found a doctor that would recommend microfracture then the Rockets might have won a Championship last season. I'm all for letting him play this season (until he is traded) provided he can help the team but don't rewrite the history of Tracy's 2008-2009 season.
