I don;'t think the organization is downplaying it - that would not make sense. The logical thing for the organization would be to play it up to drive season ticket sales. I can't believe less is happy about not having Yao, Ron, or T-mac next year to sell tickets. This is a business...the business of filling an arena and selling season tickets.
Don't underestimate the motivation that comes with playing in your contract year. That is, unless your name is Marbury or Francis.
I am starting to believe your theory now. Honestly though I want to see Tmac play again. I really dont care how it went about last time and what happened anymore. I really just miss seeing him be in top form and playing. I hope he does recover enough and comes back stronger than ever at the begining of the season. I hope the Rockets are resurrected out of the ashes and Tmac is the guy that does it. He is deserving of it obviously if he puts in the work in the gym to make it back to be in that shape to perform again like years past in his heyday. Second chances are what this city of Houston and its fans are all about. Thats what makes Houston fans so great.
exactly, i agree 100%....i think morey was just giving Tmac extra time...instead of saying "yeah he should be back by opening day" and then having tmac have a set back and coming back a month late, then that would have fans saying "here we go again with tmac"......Morey set the timetable perfectly, where tmac gets an extra month or two of cushion and there's still half a season left so the fans won't be complaining much either...
Depends on ready. The ready of last season or the ready of his first season here. I wouldn't be surprised with this scenario. Nov-TMac ready to start season says knee is 95% and team needs him Dec- TMac little rusty but is starting to get more minutes Jan- TMac has his scoring avg. up to 20.5 ppg Prior to allstar game-TMac report- some swelling in knee will be out next 2 games to rest it Feb-TMac back playing reports playing with some pain Mar-TMac has to step down and give knee more time may be out 1-2 weeks April-TMac hoping to be back in time for playoff push Rockets currently #8 seed 1/2 game ahead of NO TMac to miss playoffs as knee is not responding.
I can see it, the first post on Skillzlab.com "How to overplay an injury but make the public think you're downplaying it." Of course, I hope he comes back strong and soon. I remember on that radio interview once the Rox were eliminated where he said he plans an opening night return. Maybe that wasnt hot air.
I have no doubt on T-Mac's motivation in his contract year. And his physical status is supposed to be better than last year, since this was the point for him to undergo the micro-fructure surgery rather than rest his knee longer. If T-mac can come back early next season with pain free on his knees like what he managed to do with his back problem, I have no doubt that he is gonna lead the team to the playoff. Don't forget the 22 win streak in 08 season. A health T-mac with more developed Scola, Landary, AB, and the addition of Ariza and Anderson can surprise everyone again. But if T-mac can not cure his knee.................. Mr WADE, plz join the rockets next year!
And that right there is a great thing. Expectations low no one really is going to look at you. Usually teams with Low expectations makes lots of noise. Just because Yao is out doesn't mean this team is going to be horrible. I look at the Rockets the same way when they played the Jazz in the playoffs 2 years ago. No Yao but Scola stepped up. Funny how we was struggling because Alston was out. Now that Alston is gone and the team is much deeper than before. Everyone is better I don't see why we wouldn't be able to hang around and make the playoffs. Now i don't see us taking it all this year but we can make strides.
Yeah, I somewhat agree, DD... and even though I'm still somewhat ambivalent on the subject, I never condemned McGrady to hell like most Rockets fans did. I'm willing to forget if he plays hard for us. If he does, and if Yao actually manages to come back next season, this team still has a very high potential upside... Of course, it's entirely possible that nothing goes according to plan (again), and we don't even make the playoffs.
We have two glass men, one on mental, one on physical. There is little chance to be successful for the 2010 if there were not major trades.
This. I'd love to see "expiring contract" come back at a high level, but that would just be extra. I'm afraid the writing has been on the wall, and nothing changes the fact that "expring contract" will be gone at or by the trade deadline. The most likely scenario is that his expiring contract is traded to a cash strapped team, and hopefully one desperate enough to let Morey have his filthy way with them. Also, ..is very bad steal joe-boo's rum. Is VERY bad.
Man your theory made people come up with all sort of stuff. I like what you saying and I agree with you. Tmac still has a lot to prove and it will shock the world if he comes back and lead this team.
The situation changed once Yao was out...not sure why people have a difficult time grasping that fact. DD
