He's gone at the deadline for another expiring. My hunch is that Les can't even think about Tracy without wanting to barf.
really? Dont you think theyre weary of talking about TMac because theyre unsure of his future with the Rockets? That we should be more focused on the development of our younger players?
Well we shall see, and I am sure the Rockets are wary of any news, and I agree with you Leeb about Tmac doing whatever is right for his career....I always think a player should do that. DD
mcgrady is the LAST athlete i see returning from injury early. just never seen him exceed expectations when it comes to staying in shape or re-habbing. it would be a very bright surprise though... hope it happens. but i ain't holding my breath.
Sorry I don't have time to sift through 7 pages right now, Ill come back later.... But if the Rockets are trying to improve McGrady's image is it to up his trade value? Or actually make him a Rocket for the rest of his career? Or simply give the fans something to watch for 1yr until he walks?
I believe that you and the other folks here are so afraid of what may or may not happen next season that you are reduced to grasping at straws. Simply put: there is NO conspiracy here on the part of the Rockets concerning Tmac. He no longer figures in their long term plans. In the short term, if he comes back fine - if he doesn't fine his contract ends after next season. Either way, he's proven that you cannot count on him to be one of the foundations of this team. Why can't you simply accept the reality that next season will be very trying for the Rockets? Most likely, they will be in the NBA lotto (again). It sucks, I know but this is what happens when you make key mistakes in assembling your team. And trying to build a team around two injury-prone players has proven to be a mistake. In the long run, those are the type of mistakes you just can't outrun - sometimes, you just have to live with the consequences.
No one can deny that when T MAC is healthy he is lethal to any team. Hardcore ROCKETS fans feel he is a threat to locker room and team chemistry. Hardcore T MAC fans and casual fans look past that. The team's stance in my opinion have two options: Try to repair his image and bring him back to showcase him for other teams , boosting his trade value. Bad PR= less trade value. Try to repair his image in hopes of selling more tickets. NBA teams need ticket sales to make money. Let's face it, besides us, the HARDCORE ROCKETS FAN, no other person will look at the rockets current roster and want to see them at the toyota center unless lebron or kobe is in town. T MAC will give each home game a casual fan will want to see. Without YAO on the floor the rockets are going to hurt financially.
T-Mac has been the one saying he'll be back by training camp all along. No one believed him, and I've never even heard Morey comment on what Tracy said. Maybe they are keeping it on the down low.
Thats quite a call. The way our cap is looking we have no idea way but to sit it out and see if he responds well to this surgury. Lets say he does recover quite well would the Rockets scrap him again? Its been noted time and time again his contract as an expiring wont actually net us alot of cap space if we let him expire. the best outcomes will be: T-mac comes back and is an effective player like he was in 07-08 season. T-mac gets traded for value (preferred option for most)
Are we tanking or are we pushing for a 7th or 8th playoff spot and likely first round elimination? the picture will only be clear by about opening night. The moves the office make between now and then will be the only true answer we have. If Mac and Yao are lost causes for 09/10 we will probably go in with a similar line up to the roster we have right now, and its John Wall/2010 Free agent sweepstakes for us. We make positive moves to get immediate impact players (and dont trade Battier for youth) then we can rightly assume Mac and/or Yao might have something to say before the season is out. As of today - who knows????
After Berman's report and watching that video of him working out, I think that maybe both he and the Rockets are being coy... DD
Morey is all about stockpiling assets. They can go to to the lottery and still keep their current talent.
