I can't believe John McCain's energy policy is based on turning out the lights five minutes earlier and not driving an extra block. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jEfEkRRVnHw&rel=0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jEfEkRRVnHw&rel=0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I own rigs and proper tire inflation does help fuel milage. Regular tune up and oil changes help also. Putting 22"'s on a car that came with 16's will drop mpg greatly. The bigger more pressing issue is instead of using more oil or trying to find more, we should be trying to get off of it. 80% of brazil's vehicle are power by sugar cane ethanol. 8m vehicles are powered by copressed natural gas worldwide, but only 152k are in the U.S.. Something is wrong with that picture.
I mean its like we can't get off this drug. We can send a man to the moon, yet we will not develop clean burning, re usable fuels. Believe me when I say my fuel bill for the month is more than most americans make in a year. I'm always looking for increased mileage for my rigs. Auxillary Power Units gives drivers heat and air while only costing 1/10 of a gallon of diesel at idle vs .75 gallons of diesel. It doesn't sound like a lot to the average man but burning 1 gallon of diesel for 10 hrs of idle at night, vs 7.5 gallons is huge. That's 6.5 gal @ $4.50 per gal times 5 days a week times 50 weeks a year times 4 trucks and that's a lot of money.
