Now that guy Hakeem is the true definition of a dominant center. Which means a dominant center will always dominate no matter what the defense throws at him. Defense have to adjust just to keep up with him. That's why i was mentioning Yao is not dominant no matter what everyone else thinks. Yao can put up numbers on the stat sheet and is great for someone his size when you compare him to Shawn Bradley or Bol. But put him against Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, young Alonzo, Shaq in his prime, Kareem, Bill Russell, McHale and etc. I think Yao would have his lunch money taken up. Its sad that nowadays our best bet for center is Dwight Howard. I mean this kid is young and good, but he is no where near anyone in the 90s. Wish this is a lesson for young commers to learn that if you're a good big man, you will get paid big contracts. Hopefully one day we can draft a young atheletic talented center like the dream again. Yao was compared to Hakeem when he was coming into the league but I just thought he was a better version of shawn bradley. We need guys like that to win a championship.
Another thing to marvel at Hakeem is that he would do these amazing things while he would be observing Ramadan, where he would not eat or drink during the daytime. Just think about that...
Watching those clips begs the question - is there anybody in the current NBA as good as Hakeem? At any position? Kobe and Lebron have to be the only ones even close.
Kobe is close but Lebron is no where near. Anyway you can't compare guards to centers because it is just two different type of plays. But if you take Yao or Dwight, Dwight is 100s of miles away from Hakeem and Yao is planets away from Hakeem.
Thank you Hakeem for making us Rocket fans proud fans not a bunch of P*SSIES. Hakeem made the other team and their fans feel sorry, not the Rocket fans. <!-- LIFE IMAGE 235490 --><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.life.com/embed/index/js"></script><script type="text/javascript">LIFEembedDrawImage2('235490','172');</script>
Man, I was 18 years old when that happened. Quite possibly the greatest performance I have ever witnessed. HAK!!!! Gotta love him
I give him credit for that. I lived in Austin so I had a choice between the Spurs and Rox. But I could never get behind Robinson because he was just too predictable and such a boy scout. Hakeem had that extra spark of creativity that separates good players like Robinson from great players.

Strickland was almost at the 3 point line, Dream was starting from a stand still at half court and Strick got rejected. McGrady was running side by side with Moon, but then he quit. My standards as a Rocket fans starts at #34, not at the guy who's taking Steve Francis's number.
