Was there only the one temple in Jerusaleum? I had thought John had Jesus during his mission going to town more than once. John also had Jesus's mission lasting three years.
I am a little bit interested to see how people are reacting to this issue, as compared to the cartoons that offended the Muslims. In this case this guy is pleading for respect for his religion, but in the Muslim cartoon thread, he asked for the Muslims to be more thick skinned:
White lightning, I think your just a bit sensitive. And probably reading in too much at my opinions. I'm saying every religon gets attacked ( your beliefs is not an exception), even atheists, which is unfortunate. I like to live in a world where we respect each other as human beings & personal beliefs as long it doesn't infringe on other people. Man, you really did your research on my other posts. I must now be on your ($)hit list ! To get someone to respect your beliefs you must respect others. I'm a Roman Catholic & my faith gets constantly attacked or poked fun at in movies, music, books, articles, etc. (sometimes I do get a good chuckle at times ) But I forgive & let it go.
You can think of the trinity like water. They are all the same yet they can have different forms. Water in it's "natural" state is a liquid. Heat it up and it becomes a gas. Freeze it and it becomes a solid. All H2O, but looking differnent. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all 1 God but have 3 different tasks and appearances.
only one temple. there were synagogues everywhere. but when you referred to "the temple", everyone knew what you meant. the place where they believed God literally resided.
I think part of the problem is that we put a human face on God. We make claims like God is perfect, Jesus was without sin, God the father, etc. Whatever God is I doubt very seriously that we as humans can describe Him accurately using solely human terms.
one pre-exists the other. think of it somewhat like you think of demon possession. whether you believe in that sort of thing or not, you can understand what i mean. that's the Christian view of the Holy Spirit living in us. two separate entities...one surrendering to the other.
MadMax- You are Awesome, brother! Demon Possession! or Holy Spirit indwelling! (not a bad way to state it)
That's why some monks take a vow of silence. It's the zenlike direct experience of reality/god instead of conceptualization.
What can I say, sh*t happens!!! Hey I did spell 'ailse' correctly for once in this thread! Maybe we have something like a 'divine intervention' going on here
I dont think they can be separate. Maybe the Holy Spirit is our true nature, and our desires and misconceptions etc just get in the way.
