    19 Delta? dude!

I'm 6' and 166, but high gene-related, cholesteral. My dad is a cardiologist. Ran a 4:06 mile before the 4 minute mile was broken. The only time he let me take a day out of school was to watch him give Gayle Sayers a stress test. Just me, my dad and Gayle Sayers, for an hour. My dad has high cholesteral.

He is not going to die from it.

He also says high BP is not that bad by itself. I'm no doctor, but I know they can over med. When it comes to the heart, he says it's not how high your normal BP is,, it is how quickly you can go from highest to normal during a stress test...assuming nothing else shows during the test.

Of course, high BP as a symptom of clogged arteries is bad.

That's why I'm afraid to get yearly physicals.

The good news is that high BP as a result of a high salt diet is not bad when young. It's the salt, like Steve Francis and his migraines.

You deserve a lot more credit than God, but if spiritual inspiration motivates you to lose 140 lbs, more power to ya.

yeah, this thread certainly could have done without the unsolicited preaching of your faith, and i'm guessing that your god could care less what your scale says (you are assuming that your god considers it wrong to have been 300 lbs in the first place).

congrats on your weight loss though. i doubt your god would mind if you gave yourself a pat on the back every once in a while.

I'll dig up some old pics and post them up here later. In the year 2000 when I was 21 years old, I got up to 252lbs at my max (I'm 6'4.) I finally had enough of being fat and I lost the weight and have kept it off since then by eating a little "smarter." Last time I checked I was at 183lbs.

Umm....do you just like being a dick or what?

If BobMarley wants to attribute his motivation to god, then more power to him.

Some really cool stuff from the guys that lost weight. Much appeciated.

    Two notes:

    1. If you are looking for a truly amazing resource on weight-loss, check out the www.somethingawful.com health message board. There is more information there than your brain can even digest. There is even one thread that is entirely devoted to before and after pictures of people that took advice from the board. We are talking about hundreds and hundreds of people. It is very inspiring when you see regular guys and girls getting it done.

    2. Its kind of funny to see how many people claim to be 6'4" and taller on this board. I'm not calling anyone out because everyone could be telling the truth. I've been reading about height in our country and these are the stats.

Only 7% of American men are 6'1'' or taller
Only 0.5% of American men are 6'4 or taller

Of course we are on a basketball message board. People who like basketball have probably played basketball--->Tall people are usually better and thus more interested in basketball---> thus we have an unusually high number of extremely tall people (6'4" statistically is truly extremely tall)

Did you really get that offended?

Many people as well as myself believe that will and determination can be spurred on by a power greater than us. There's no need to be rude about it.

I took a week off from excersise. My body was adapting and results were incremental.

This week I've eaten Popeye's (3 years since my last bite), Honey Nut Cherios, Chocolate Covered Almonds, and Chick-Fila.

I havent gained any weight which suprises me.

Monday it's back to HIIT and HST.

I learned that THE HARD WAY
60 minutes on the Cardio Machine. . . NO PROBLEM
1 K for the Father Son Prostate Cancer run . . BIG PROBLEM

I hit the hill and that was all she wrote
I made it .. but d*mn I felt like crap
[should have ate something before hand too but that is another story]

QUESTION: does working out BEFORE Cardio shed pounds better?
I been using the cardio to get myself warm to do my strength exercise
Should I do it in reverse?

i answered that as calmly as i knew how, and sure, maybe i was offended. i don't want to get into a debate on religion. that's why it shouldn't have been brought to the threads in the first place.

Near as I can tell, you're the only one debating anything.

This is a 'getting healthy' thread. A big part of that is what motivates someone to do so. Don't like it? Ignore it.

Wow, that is a weird stat. Personally, all my life I thought I was 6 foot flat, til a couple of years ago I got an official measurement at a doctor's office. It even says 6'1" on my license, but I thought it was just wrong. :)

And I hang out with so many basketball people that I wouldn't have ever really guessed that stat was so low either.
