I have given up on the idea of having Bonzi in the Rockets lineup. People say he can rebound, score, and provide an inside pressence. I say last years Bonzi in the Kings uniform, against the Spurs could. But it would be more than an overstatement if we have seen anything close to that glimpse so far for us. So far Bonzi has proven to be a distraction, a guy who can't make ft's, settles for jumpers, and has done an average job at best rebounding. I am much more, and have been more impressed with Kirk Synder all year. He is tall, quick, and athletic. He does not fit into our system. I would try him one more time with Yao and T-mac in the lineup and if doesn't work out, stick with Kirk the rest of the way.
It doesn't matter if Bonzi plays if Rafer and Luther do not hit wide open jump shots. Rafer has been on tear lately. It comes down to dumb (Rafer) and dumber (Head).
Bonzi is still twice the player Snyder is. he's combination of postup game and insane rebounding for a man of he's height is a luxtuary any coach would die for. it's he's offcourt and wheight issues are holding him back. i still expect a 12 and 6 in the playoffs from him.
It appears that Bonzi's season will end like it began: with him saying he is ready to play and JVG saying he isn't. JVG obviously doesn't like him, isn't going to play him. Bonzi is a wasted roster spot and he has wasted an opportunity to redeem himself from his contract disaster. Who is going to take a chance on him now? He will never get the money he was offered by the Kings.
Seriously, if Bonzi wants to make an impression he should be in shape by now. I mean he gets to workout everyday and he still can't seem to be in the shape JVG wants him in.
I don't think it's about shape anymore. He just fell out of the rotation, that's all. He isn't really in the doghouse either, he just doesn't have a place on the team, and it seems better for him to stay at home than to just ride the pine like a scrub (which he is not). Bonzi is a failed experiment. It is what it is.
im over bonzi, i dont expect anything anything from him. Anything he gives is a bonus and nothing more.
with yao back i dont think bonzi's offense is as valuable as it once was. clearly during the time when yao rest this team knows how to go back to scoring without a low post threat (primarily the way they were playing when yao was out) bonzi's defense is extremely poor and while he rebounds well he hustles poorly. there were 2 rebounds i remember distinctly in the 4th qtr during the last game against dallas where it was coming right for him and if he made any effort to get to the ball he would have had it, but he waited there and consequently terry was first to the ball both times and dallas ended up scoring on both possesions in a 3point game. now if snyder was in i dont know if he would have definitely gotten those rebounds but seeing the way kirk does play he would have more than likely made an effort to get those rebounds. bonzi looks lost both on offense and defense, we have to try to build better chemistry now right before the playoffs and trying to switch bonzi in and out with kirk is not going to help. i think jvg knows this, snyder may have been in the dog house but there is no doubt that he has more than been ready physically and has produced well when out on the court. i would say bring bonzi in if we play the spurs to see if it'll work if not dont play him at all he is already made up his mind he'll be playing elsewhere next year
Yeah, we really need Bonzi now...what are we averaging since Yao got back on offense? 105 ppg......yeah, the Bonz would make a difference, FOR THE OTHER TEAM. DD
How you guys are wrong about bonzi. I hope he can provide some depth off the bench in the playoffs. How will he play out next yr? What do the roxs gain or lose? Maybe the kings will offer 85% of what they were going to offer him b4 and he will help them
