Some teams cant matchup, for different reasons
You think that Dallas when he won 60 games and being the 1st seed, if they could choose the team, they would never choose the Warriors, even when the Warriors were the 8th seed.

So maybe if you can avoid Jazz for at least one round, you do it, leave the difficult enemies for the end.

I think the Bulls of Jordan were a good matchup vs the Rockets, that was a good matchup, and even when they were the best, you knew the Rockets could beat them.

the mavs' problems with the Warriors were a lot more severe than houston with Utah. We haven't been healthy in most of these matchups, regular season AND in the playoffs. Also, the mavs-warriors happened over just one season, now that both teams have changed, i'm sure Dallas would love a crack at them. Houston has changed as well, for the better. We may not be completely healthy, but at least Ron makes up for some of the offense lost without Tmac.

I just think it's overblown, one more win here or there and everyones is instead saying we'd beat them this year...

Spurs and Cavs arent remembered for losing mentalities and tanking to get Tim Duncan and Lebron.

There's a reason college football teams dont schedule dominant powerhouse teams in the non-conference schedule. Sometimes its the path of least resistance thats gets you to the desired destination.

Its different for basketball cuz you can lose to a team 12 straight times in the regular season, but in the playoffs you beat that same team in a best of 7 series you advance. As long as you dont devote extra focus and energy into avoiding rather than on beating teams, you can put some realism into the approach

The game before last, the only person we were missing was Tracy, and im not sure, but i don't think he'll be ready for the playoffs. We were missing Landry the last game, but his presence didn't change the outcome before so that's nothing to blame it on.

Bad matchup plain and simple.....Yao will always be used to our disadvantage.

Again, define owned, please. Do series losses with legitimate injury factors in 7 and 6 games imply ownage? If so, i need to change my idea of the word.

Have you seen the Jazz recently? Do they remind you much of the 90's Sonics? Again, if they do, I need to change my idea of those Sonics.

i think some people are misconstruing the point. it's not that we don't believe that we can't beat the jazz, it's that we don't matchup with them very well, so facing someone else might be a better draw.

why face the team that gives us the most problems when you can face someone else that doesn't?

i think that's the point that most people are trying to make. i'm sure not many people here would ever cheer against the rockets if they were to face the jazz. because being a fan means that we believe our team will be able to defeat the opposition no matter the odds.

Yeah but to face that "better draw" they'd have to tank games, is that reallty what we want? For them to lose games on purpose? And personally i'm hoping for NO in the first round, the easiest matchup i think, but i wouldn't suggest dropping games to get them. Some fans in here have literally written we wont win agains utah and that they fear them. I dont think anyone will disagree utah is a tougher matchup than other teams, but to say we're scared or automatically assume we'll lose? That's not cool at all.. It's an 8th seed afterall, Its not the 72-10 Bulls.

the mentality before a game starts knowing you have an edge over that opponent, you know that you're in their head and that mentally they're doubting themselves.....

We need some online DEPENDS for these grown people to wear that are afraid of the j*zz.

Please, stop justifying your lack of confidence, belief and faith in our team because of our previous loses to the Jass.

If we play them, just lock yourselves in your rooms and close your eyes until we say it is alright to come out and see the results.

All of your rationalizations about how we don't match up well with them, no matter how true, still smell of pure WUSSINESS!

Either you have the HEART OF A CHAMPION and BELIEVE, or you don't. If you fear the j*zz, then you don't.

With your post count in the time you've been on the board you are nowhere near being a lurker. Just saying..

Now a guy with 5 posts in 2 years, yes that is a lurker.

Yao being out is moot. without Yao we had a better matchup with the Jazz. You didn't even hear Boozer's name in that series because Hayes and Mutombo did such a great job on him.

But with Yao in, while our scoring is better, our defense is much worse. Boozer looks like a HOF'er with Yao guarding him.

Some folks just search for a reason to post a thread when they finally get their member status.

I know because I did it back in 2005 when my old account finally became a member. lol.

    Oh adolescence is wonderful...

Umm, NO. Boozer played like crap the last two weeks or so of the regular season last year. He continued that throughout the playoffs and i believe even early this season he kept the slump going. chuck and deke do play great D, but Boozer's funk had a lot to do with his quiet series. We win it with Yao, no doubt.

Having 160 posts in two months doesn't quality you as a lurker.

I'd say you're more the "Likes to think he's controversial when he's really just a pessimist" type.

I don't deny that that played a part, its just that there were a lot of factors. I refuse to call it ownage.
