No, the CBS poll of undecided voters had Obama as the clear winner 53% to 23%, wider than the margin Romney won the first debate. There were other polls that measured other voter groups and Obama won by an average of 16%.

Nate Silver breaks it all down....

Yup, this debate was crucial and he nailed it in the eyes of the voters. Probably shut down the last Romney momentum tonight.

I have never seen anyone as fake as Romney since I started following elections in 1996. You must be talking about George W. Bush here. He had that type of charisma, where people would find him endearing when he speaks like a bumbling fool. If Romney had half of Bush's outward sincerity(disguised or not), he should be crushing Obama right now.

I thought Obama won the debate.

He slashed Romney pretty thoroughly and when he was done slashing Mitt started slashing himself up for good measure. He left so many stinging blows on the table unanswered. Honestly I thought it was a thrashing.

I fell asleep after about 40 minutes in, but from what I did see, Romney was...acceptable. There were a few moments and a few things he said that I liked a lot, but they were subtle enough that I don't think most Americans would catch it anyways. Fact is, Obama has been generally extremely good on foreign policy, and so there's just not a lot Romney can say.

Frankly won't be surprised if it ends up like Kerry-Bush but in reverse in the end, but honestly I'm not going to be really all that annoyed if Obama wins.

I agree with Joe Scarborough this morning; Obama made Romney look unworthy and unqualified to be president. It was apparent for all.

Last night was one of the best of the campaign for the President.

I'm pretty certain that the post directly above this drivel you call a post is from a republican.

Obama "won" this debate, but I didn't think Romney made any major mistakes. Both did pretty well, I thought, in coming across as "presidential".

Romney changed his policy on Afghanistan. He now agrees with Obama on the firm deadline of 2014. Romney agrees with Obama on Iran, Syria, his handling of the uprising in Egypt etc.

Obama didn't change his positions on any of that. And with Romney basically agreeing with Obama's foreign policy everywhere a win for Romney is really a win for Obama.

It's odd seeing so many Republican voters supporting Obama's foreign policy in this thread.

I am starting to believe staunch republicans would support Obama if he were running against himself.

Romney's original position is that you don't put a date on when you leave so that they can just wait for you to leave and then they come back in.

That hasn't changed, he still believes you shouldn't put a date on it but because one has already been put on it my the President and it isn't wise to change the date as soon as you get into office, because drawing out of Afghanistan is a process that takes time.

That is saying a lot mc, because Obama has been playing to hold a lead for the past year. Obama has made the tide less powerful but it is there none the less. Romney is trending up and that is the story of the debates overall.
