The goal is to bring in premium prospects. It sure looks like they may have missed on Green, passing on better prospects/players in the process. I don’t believe that potential misfire is offset by acquiring a few day 3 picks.

Well, yeah - if, a year from now, we’ve given up a top 5-10 pick… it’s going to hit you a lot harder than it will now when you’re still in the Anderson after-glow and that pick hasn’t manifested.

Now, as I’ve said: Stroud & Anderson performing extremely well can soften that blow - and if, because they’ve played well, they win 7, 8 games and are picking 15-20… We’ll certainly view the deal differently.

    I do not think there’s any chance they’ll win 7, 8 - but I hope I’m wrong.

Those aren’t really similar decisions. The Collins trade made zero sense because a) they had limited draft capital already; b) there really wasn’t any urgency to give away picks to acquire a mid WR in year 1 of a long rebuild. It’s just a poor allocation of resources. The plan should’ve been either stay and draft BPA or trade down and acquire more picks. It was the 3rd round, firmly in lottery territory. You buy as many tickets as you can. He sold his for one. Just poor asset management.

As for last year… I don’t believe I’ve ever bashed Caserio for trading down, and I’m not sure what you want here? For me to view the trade in a vacuum and just pretend I don’t know how it’s turned out thus far?…

I’m fully aware the dangers of drawing any conclusions about rookies so early in their careers. But the short-term results are Caserio’s first round last year was a gigantic misfire. Hopefully, we’ll feel differently this time next year - but, again: I’m not sure how else I’m supposed to evaluate it in the meantime? It was baaaaaaaad. And! It frankly recasts this years picks. Stroud and Anderson now need to be really, really good - which was already the case, what with the cost to draft them. But now there may be the added pressure of the ‘22 first round being a total bust.

Jags are probably a 9-11 win team and everyone else will win between 5-8 games.

It is unlikely but I would not be shocked.

Jags are alright. Yeah, best team in the division but they don't have a stranglehold on it like KC has on its division or the Rogers Packers had on theirs or the old Pats had on theirs. They are not kings of this division.

Titans are on the down slide and seemed to have missed their window. Their best player also is a RB which means given season his body could tap out and they'd be at best a below average team then.

Colts are no better than we are. Being 1 game better is nothing in the NFL, we could have won a game with the right bounce here and there and vice versa for them.

In the NFL turnover is rampant. Every year basically like half of the teams that were in the playoffs suck and then are replaced by mediocre or bad teams.

What matters the most is coaching. That matters more than anything in the NFL since the sport is more like chess where the pieces can vary in what they do but its about how a coach moves those pieces around the board. If Demeco is the coach we hope he is he could pull off a 8-9 win season that could be enough to win this division.

Worst to first isn't at all that uncommon in this sport, current kings of the sport, the Chiefs, also went worst to first. How? Merely replacing their QB and Coach. Sounds familiar?

In fact, look at a lot of worst to first in the NFL it usually involved having a new QB and/or a new coach. We have both. That means practically anything could happen with this team. Stroud could turn out to be amazing along with Demeco and suddenly you are a perennial contender.

This is why i never got that mad at firing Culley or Lovie, give a new coach 2....3 seasons at max, if it don't look good, try another. We didn't need another season of either to know they'd continue to be bad.

Not saying it WILL happen but history shows its very possible especially if you've replaced your QB or Coach from the year before.

    #Hey now.
I always read and enjoy your posts.
But last year he was doing above average the first three games. Got hurt and was a shell of himself the rest of the season. An off-season to heal get more comfortable with his surroundings. He's not a newbie next year. I think he makes a huge jump.
You can re post this next year if I'm wrong.

We will disagree until I see his body of work next year.

I was doubtful of the assertion made the subject of this thread, initially. But after seeing Warren Moon celebrate the Titans wearing Oilers throwbacks next year, I’ve thought about it a bit harder and I’ve revisited my calculations and now I say **** it, I agree. Go Texans!

It's called addition by subtraction when you get rid of a clubhouse loser.

I think 790 needs to be purged. A bunch of whiners and complainers who hate talking local sports. They all want to be a celebrity elsewhere.

Even better, I'll just stop listening to sports radio since there are no faith friendly sports teams.

Jags more than likely win this division, but AR15 is going to be a big problem.

I think, hear me out, that AR15 is a totally tone-deaf bullshit nickname. And i do not like it.

And he's not that good yet either. Stroud had a better game today against a better team.

One, what’s wrong with the nickname?
Two, Stroud definitively did not have a better game than AR.
It’s a wash at best, but you take the guy with two TDs.

Also, Jacksonville is probably a better team than Baltimore currently. Easier division and coming off a playoff appearance
