Oh man, if we would have drafted him like I wanted we would be in big trouble.......I cant even fathom the **** storm we would be in
It might be an ignorant take, but it’s one I’m sure many other people share, but his size is something I’ll absolutely never be able to get over. I’ll never be able to NOT think of this picture when thinking about Bryce Young. You’ll never be able to convince me he’ll be a good NFL QB. And that’s coming from someone who wanted him over Stroud before the draft. There’s just absolutely no precedent for someone of his size succeeding at QB. Man, we freakin dodged that bullet and I couldn’t be happier.
I don't, obviously, regret the decision. But... landing in Houston, with DeMeco and Slowick and the weapons around him... His rookie year might've gone differently. None of those things will ever overcome his size and limited athleticism, so, again: I'm not suggesting he would have had a season like CJ, or anything crazy. Just that... coaching, scheme, weapons... Houston is light-years ahead of Carolina on that front.
I wouldn't be shelling out several thousand to go to the home opener this year, nor would I have been buying the gear I have that's for sure. I think we're all like this. thanks Carolina
I can't not think about it, every practice I see: 1st video of them in pads last offseason... and the quote that sticks is: "he looks like a Make-A-Wish" kid who gets to practice with his favorite team
If lovie smith hadn't won a meaningless game we probably would have been stuck with bryce. Sometimes sports is about luck.
There have been plenty of last-to-firsts - but generally, they tend to have roots in years-long decisions that start to bear fruit - multiple top-of-the-draft picks, and such. The Texans were in a very dark place as recently as Jan 2023. Their owner was a fail-son; their GM had filled the roster with has-beens, never-weres and, it sure seemed, like a gaggle of failed draft picks. They had somehow blown the #1 overall pick and were looking for the third coach in two years. Absolute dumpster fire. In the span of three months - months not years! - they initiated an unprecedented 180, nailing their head coach hire and the drafting of their two franchise cornerstones. I'm not sure any team has ever turned things around as quickly and decisively as the Texans. They are not a last-to-first story; they are a dead-to-first story.
