I've been digging, but cant seem to find the stat today. Anyone have a link to "batted balls" leaders in the NFL this year to establish a corollary with shorter QBs? Both Mills and Driskel struggle with bats at times and they are 6'4. Just wondering if that is something to be aware of and have some sort of contingency for if Bryce Young is the QB here.
There is no correlation. Some of the tallest qbs have the highest batted ball percentage. It seems to be more of a function of staring down receivers/and or unable to adjust arm angle on throws.
Yep looks to be the case. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/passing_advanced.htm 1 Joe Burrow - 23 2 Justin Herbert - 22 3 Trevor Lawrence - 16 4 Josh Allen - 14 5 Russell Wilson - 14 6 Baker Mayfield - 14 7 Matt Ryan - 12 8 Jalen Hurts - 11 9 Ryan Tannehill - 11 10 Tom Brady - 10 11 Jimmy Garoppolo - 10 12 Kirk Cousins - 9 13 Geno Smith - 9 14 Derek Carr - 9 15 Kyler Murray - 9 16 Justin Fields - 9 17 Daniel Jones - 8 18 Davis Mills - 8
CJ Stroud doesn't play well under pressure. He's rated almost dead last in college football when facing pressure or in pressure moments. He's a good qb with fantastic accuracy, but I don't think he'll ever be great. He'll get to go up against Georgia so we can compare how he does vs Bryce's two games against them last year.
Mills is not responsible for the drop in fan support. Fan support is evaporating because of the clowns running this organization.
The better question is: Name a short QB that has been as successful as Bryce Young has been in college? It's those guys that we should be comparing Bryce Young to when it comes to how they eventually performed in the NFL.
I think this is what people are missing. There's only one Allen Iversen. When you're that unique of a talent, it's pointless to try to break them down with data. They are exceptional at a level that's far beyond others. It's pure talent. Bryce Young has always been small for a qb and yet he performs at every level.
You realize there have been better college QB's Young's size who have flamed out or just been avg at best in the NFL. Only one can call himself a champion, Russ.
Name these better college QBs. I guarantee they all had glaring red flags before they were drafted that had nothing to do with size.
Are you comparing Young to AI? Talk about overhyping a prospect. Young has done nothing in the NFL and he’s being talked about like he’s AI?
Fellow Heisman trophy winners Doug Flutie, Johnny Manziel and Kyler Murray to name 3 off of the top of my head.
Manziel is/was an idiot off the field, has been known since university days. Flutie I am not going to pretend I watched him, but I see some pedestrian stats his Heisman year and who knows what the level of competition was like at Boston College. Certainly it wasn't a top program in the nation like Bama. Kyler actually ended up being pretty good, you can do a lot worse than him plus he doesn't like to watch film/seems arrogant. That's not Bryce Young.
Boston college ended up 6th in country his Heisman season, and those numbers were elite for the era Also, Kyler sucks man. Dude has regressed badly
