It was going to be Clowney or Bortles, but Manziel's pro day has shown he can put it down field, and that's enough to sway the Texans in his favor. At this point, the only legit reason to choose Blake over Johnny is height, but then there's Wilson laughing in your face.

Clowney or Manziel or trade down, based on all the chatter, is there really any other scenario that seems remotely possible at this point?

And if it comes down to Clowney or Manziel, I think the Texans probably go with Clowney, gut it out next season, and draft a QB in 2015.

All indicators point to Clowney #1 and QB later.

Sounds good to me. Just don't want to take Bortles with the #1.

Worst case scenario we are back next year picking at #1 and have another shot at a QB. However, after that we need to start winning fast if we want to keep JJ. I don't think he can take more losing.

Y'all laughed when I suggested we draft 2 of the less heralded QB's in the later rounds but Coach BOB said he might do exactly that.

You just never know which of those guys will excel, one of them will be a good/great NFL QB.

In pre-draft, anyone taking anything BOB/the Texans say to be validation of their opinion is pointless.

P-p-p-p-poker face mah mah poker face.

Naw, Johnny is the hot chick... Teddy is the chick you call at 2 in the morning when you don't have anything else to do.

Based on B'OB's comments, I assume the Texans will go for a QB at some point in this draft. However, I wonder how much value they put in evaluating the stock of players expected to come out next year. There are 4 QB's (Oregon, UCLA, FSU, Baylor) that are 2015 1st round talent - maybe they have their eyes set that far in the future?

They cannot make a draft decision this year based on the mindset that they can just get one of the top QBs next year. Chances are very low that they will be a top 5 picking team next year.

If they don't like one of these QBs that's fine, but if they like say Manziel a lot but think Winston is better, they shouldn't pass on Manziel and then hope they get a shot at Winston.

It doesn't have to be Winston. It can be Hundley, Mariotta, anyone.

If you think there is a QB this year that can THE MAN for your team, you should not pass on him because you think there is one next year that is better. You may never get a chance to get that guy.

Now, of course if you don't think there is that guy this year that's different.

I hope not. (and I doubt it)

At what point does this process stop? There's always going to be better QB's in next year's draft. When do you stop chasing that carrot?

Yeah like last year when everyone was talking up this year's class and the hype was on for Teddy before LAST YEAR'S Draft!

    Tank for Teddy!

    Now it's NEXT YEAR'S Draft.

It's always NEXT YEAR'S Draft because those players haven't been put under the microscope yet.

Winston may be a shot in the dark. But there will possibly be 3-5 more 1st round graded quarterbacks and they won't have to be drafting in the top 5 to get one.

Mariota, Hundley, etc... None of them will grade higher than Manziel right now. Or if they do, it will be by a very small margin.

It's completely pointless to pass on Manziel if your hope is to get a Mariota type next season.

I would hate to play poker with BOB LoL. He’s got a good poker face. Probably know what he wants to do already, but throwing all kinds of mixed signals out there. Valedictorian of the Bill School of Keeping the media in the dark. Build a dynasty Bill I trust your judgement

Mariota and Hundley would both grade out high than Manziel

Both are bigger, have stronger arms and are faster. Just of physical talent alone they are better than Manziel

If Mariota and Hundley hadn't went back to school _ Mariota would be the #1 quarterback in the draft with practically no argument and Hundley would be in the top 3-4. It's also possible that Hogan could get better and Braxton Miller has a "Johnny Like" skill set and he could possibly make a jump as well. Travis Wilson looks like he could be the sleeper in the group and it's a couple of other guys I didn't mention like Driskel.

I disagree with your assessment of the grading of next year's quarterbacks.
