I can't wait to see Manziel, Harden, and Parson making it rain at The Mens Club.

That's not a choice, Clowney obviously. You might as well have said Greg Robinson or Jeremiah George

forrealz, why wouldn't we draft an athletic monster on paper who takes every other play off and completely quit on his college team in his senior year?

With this pro-day performance, Manziel will make it very hard for the Texans to pass on him with the #1 pick. Even if he doesn't pan out, you gotta gamble on a guy like that. If there was an Andrew Luck or a sure fire #1 pick in this draft, I would understand, but the other QBs are average at best and Clowney is a quitter with poor work ethic. DRAFT JOHNNY

No, PointForward makes a very good point. A lot of you guys seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to Clowney.

The love you guys have for a supposed pass-rusher who can't actually get to the quarterback with any consistency is unreal. As far as I'm concerned, the guy has the aura of someone who is going to slack off and turn mediocre as soon as he gets paid.

Actually, he didn't make a point at all, he just repeated a bunch of BS that has been repeatedly disproven. It was a laughable comment, not one to be taken seriously....a clown comment. In fact, Bryce Harper is giving him a very judgmental look right now. Pretty much every person that has looked at Clowney's game tape in depth realizes that the "took the year off" comments are not something that an intelligent, informed person would say. Same goes for the work ethic comments. If you want to bring up legitimate knocks on Clowney that's one thing, but repeating that nonsense won't get you far.

True. The more you watch the film and read the expert analysis the more you realize Clowney didn't quit on SC. Bill O'Brien nailed it with him.

That said, there is a question of whether his technique is an issue. There were times he was matched up one on one against tackles and he didn't get anything done.

Coachable though. I'd have no problem with him being a Texan.

Do you watch film EndWorld, and if so do you know what to watch for... 3 sacks is 3 sacks regardless of what excuses you and Bobby make for him (and others). AND HE WAS NOT DOUBLED EVERY PLAY...

I am a Clowney guy but I do believe after today it comes down to these 2 with the possibility of trading down a distant 3rd.

I wish there was a profootballfocus equivalent for college football. I would be willing to bet that Clowney would grade very high because of his ability to stop the run and rush the passer.

Yeah his technique isn't perfect, he's still just a prospect. On a lot of plays people point to where they say that he was beaten by one guy or "he didn't try" were actually plays where he had two gap responsibility. Some people will watch one play where he jumps a gap and causes all kinds of hell to break loose then on another he won't fire across the line and won't go anywhere....it'll be because in the scheme, he can't fire into a gap on that down. I like the fact that he showed the discipline to stick with his assignment, even though he has the ability to fire across the line.

He'll need worth when it comes to some of the highly technical aspects of shedding blocks (to better use his hands) and some work perfecting his footwork if he wants to reach his full potential, but if he does, he'll be an absolute terror to offenses for a decade or more barring injury.

    FWIW:

Word from the NFL meetings is the Texans are trying hard to deal the first pick in the draft. They want to move down and acquire extra selections. Sources say they might have a trade partner in the Bills, who appear interested in moving up. It is unclear who the Bills would want in a trade-up scenario. Some believe they would move up for a quarterback. They also could make good use of an offensive tackle such as Greg Robinson. And it would be something to see them pair Mario Williams with either Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack.

Buffalo currently has the 9th overall pick.
