if you think mccarron is a future NFL quarterback... You obviously have not been paying attention. Troll.
The rest of your post is spot on - the absolute top priority of this franchise should be to find a franchise QB. If they don't see one in this draft, punt and try to find one elsewhere down the line - don't commit to a 2-3 project guy in the 3rd round in the hopes he'll work out. He most likely won't, and you'll have wasted 2-3 years.
I am not a troll. Tell me what was crazy about what I said? Tell me why Aj wouldnt make a good QB? I guess you are just one of those guys.... always thinks he is right and probably is depressed.

I guess I didn't type it, but I was referring to 2nd round picks. Schaub was a 3rd rounder. And the 3rd round would also include Russell Wilson, maybe Nick Foles if he can continue his success. But that's why I said the success rate in the 3rd round isn't that far off from the 2nd. Neither round has produced many decent starting QBs, but there are a few rare exceptions. I think that once you get to the type of QB that is usually available it the 2nd and 3rd, it's even more of a crap shoot than it is in the first. You're trying to find a needle in a haystack and your odds in the 3rd aren't THAT dissimilar from what they are in the 2nd. However, by the time you've reached the 4th, you've already moved on to a lower tier of QB. The 4th, 5th, and 7th rounds haven't produced any decent QB in recent years. Tom Brady in the 6th is the lone late round exception.
In this particular draft Maybe O'Brien isn't going to buy into the 1st round percentage ratio that you talk about. But I believe regardless of what the Texans do this year _ they'll be drafting in the top 5-10 next year so they'll have their shot at a quarterback then.
BoB with some positive opinions on Mr Football http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...johnny-manziel-can-succeed-from-pocket-in-nfl Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien sees the same scrambling brilliance as anyone else when he watches film of former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, but he sees something else that not every scouting report gives Manziel credit for: the ability to succeed from the pocket. O'Brien was asked about Manziel at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando on Tuesday, and he didn't sound like a coach prepared to write Manziel off as a hopeless scrambler. "If you watch some of his games, obviously he's a very exciting player when he breaks the pocket and he runs," O'Brien said, according to cbssports.com. "But if you watch the Ole Miss game -- I think something happened to him; he got injured, hurt his ankle or something -- he came back, and he threw from the pocket in that game. If you watch him, he's going to be able to do a lot of different things. It's sustainable." Manziel actually tweaked his left knee in that game, which came on the road against the Rebels last October, but O'Brien's point was well made. Manziel completed 31 of 39 passes for 346 yards in a 41-38 thriller, a road comeback win for the Aggies. Although Manziel rushed for 124 yards in the game, most of his throws were from the pocket as he picked on a thin Ole Miss secondary. O'Brien favored conventional pocket passers during his time at Penn State, something that has led analysts to believe Manziel wouldn't be well suited to lead his offense, but O'Brien tried to dispel that notion. "We don't have a certain type," he said. "We want a guy that's accountable. A good character guy." Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer made similar remarks about Manziel, saying his primary concern in evaluating him is not ability or playing style but leadership and maturity. lock it up folks, we're drafting Johnny
The first thing that comes in my mind about Johnny is "excitement." The 1st thing that comes in my mind about Clowney is "3 sacks" and his own head coach questioning his work ethic.
