I've been a fan of Jimmy's for the past couple of years. I seriously doubt he would be considered as a 1st round draft pick but I do think he has just as much potential as the guys at the top. Going through a coaching change and learning a new system quickly bolds well for him. That's what Russell Wilson went through in college when he changed schools.
Ok ive flipped flopped again, not down with clown anymore. Although Clowney could be an awesome addition to the defense ya must have a quality qb to win. Manziel would be my pick now and hes a homer who will fill the seats not to mention add some swagger and excitement to the team. Yep JF is the pick!
Because selling seats has always been a problem for the Texans. Anyways: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>I'm not one for speculation, but my guy confirms something <a href="https://twitter.com/nfldraftscout">@nfldraftscout</a> & <a href="https://twitter.com/dpbrugler">@dpbrugler</a> have said. If draft were today, <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Texans&src=hash">#Texans</a> take Bortles.</p>— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/AllbrightNFL/statuses/436932072603537408">February 21, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Too many guys I've listened to for years corroborating the Texans/Bortles thing. Guess I'd better start to accept it as a high possibility.
He's really the only guy that I do not want at all of the big 4 (TB, JF, bortles and Clowney). I only saw one game from him but I was not impressed by his play at all..but I could be wrong. I just can't see Bortles going #1 overall. They would have to trade back to make that pick. My guess is the rumors are just testing the waters to see what type of response they get from other teams.
Same here. He's a tools guy, not a good football player. Wait, scratch that - I think he is a good football player - just not a good quarterback. He isn't Big Ben.
If they're going to pick Bortles, I hope they decide to trade down because taking him at #1 is a waste.
I'd like to see the Texans draft the guy with the highest ceiling. That's just fan talk, obviously, and I'm sure I'll regret it, but Bortles doesn't really scream number one overall pick. I'd rather see the Texans say #### it and draft Clowney or Manziel.
Funny thing is Bortles had 8 this past season and Bridgewater had 3 and Bortles has the bigger hands. Johnny only had 2 fumbles playing against elite college talent. That's impressive for such a small guy playing the style he did. Doesn't mean NFL teams will pay attention to that though _ but I would.
It might not be, we'll see how he performs the events at that weight and see what weight he comes in at his pro day. If it's not "good weight" either his performance will suffer or he'll weigh in differently at his pro day. I'm fine with giving him the benefit of the doubt.
