yeah, left out the "liked them until the texans existed cause they were the oilers for me until then"
I've been a fan of the Oilers since 1961 or so. I used to listen to the games on the radio. In 1965 (5th grade) Bob Talamini came and spoke at our pee-wee football banquet. I left Houston in 1975 for North Carolina, so the Oilers moving to Nashville was moving toward me. I expect in the ascendancy of Vince Young that I'll soon get a steady dose of Titans on the game of the week. I was sorry for Houston to lose their team but I didn't get too emotionally wrapped up in it because of the distance. Go Titans! Hope the Texans can get their stuff together...
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize we were back to you having to approve my posts before I make them. My bad.* *This post not approved by pgabriel.
I rooted for the Rams in the Superbowl, I was a big Oilers fan but once they left, they are dead to me.
How can you blame Bud Adams? The mayor told him that he should just be Happy with the Astrodome. He did the right thing in moving. THE ONLY REASON we have Reliant and MMP is because Bud left with the Oilers. The vote to build the two just barely passed and so many people were still convinced that the rundown astrodome was still a good facility. This city was naive and it paid for it.
no I was making fun of your whiny ass posts, and please mr. pot, you just lambasted the threadstarter because this is a houston sports forum, so who's trying to approve posts. you're ridiculous
You're sweet. Since it's been thrown out at me so much, you're whining about whining, so there. Not to mention, everyone points out when topics are started in the wrong forum. This is not a Tennessee Titans' forum.* *This post not approved by pgabriel.
I hated the fact that the Oilers left Houston but the team that started in TN was the same orginization with Jeff Fisher, Steve McNair and Eddie George who I remember playing in Houston so I kept my loyalty to them and still consider them the Oilers. The Texans started after I left Houston and I've never seen a Texans game in person and barely have any exposure to them. I like the Texans and root for them but I just don't feel the same sense of attachment towards the team wearing Columbia Blue.
i like the titans because they were the oilers and they have vince young. i also like the Texannes. however, they are completely unwatchable from a football-fan standpoint.
There Titans are an enemy of the Houston Texans just like any other NFL team. Therefore, I want them to lose every game possible just like I want the Texans to win every game possible.
Aren't the Texans the worst expansion franchise in NFL history yet? That's what happens when you draft two # 1 busts. The Texans should cut Demeco cause he is making Super Mario look bad. On the news last night they were like, "Can you believe Yao Ming and David Carr were drafted in the same year? Yao scored 32 points tonight while David threw 4 picks."
wouldn't that be the tampa bay buccaneers? didn't they win their first game on the last week of their SECOND season?
I grew up an oilers fan in the LuvYaBlue era. I bled columbia blue, even after the buffalo debacle and every other playoff letdown. When they left, i was heartbroken and angry, so I disowned them. Even when they were in the superbowl vs St Louis, i rooted for st louis and was joyous when they lost, in typical oiler fashion, one yard short of overtime. Im also a huge UT fan and vince fan. When Vince began starting for the titans, I began watching them, as directv allows me to watch whatever game i want. As vince has grown, my disdain for that franchise has subsided, and seeing that once loved columbia blue stirs many memories in me. Im a texans season ticket holder, unfortunately, and after 5 years i feel absolutely no bond with them, not to mention my growing disdain for the Texans over their embarrassing incompetence and losing product. I went to the Texans/Titans game here, decked out in my new Titans Vince Young jersey and I rooted for the titans. I must say, slipping on that familiar colored jersey felt very natural and I felt the excitement i once had as an oiler fan going to the dome for a game, a feeling i have never had going to a texan game. I now watch and root for the Titans every week, and my feelings for the Texans have been left at nothing but embarrassment that they represent our city. I hope they turn it around some day, but I thank Vince for bringing back the columbia blue to my inner football fan spirit. Go Titans..LuvYaBlue!!
