You are right but why let the mismatch continue. After some minutes of play and when Boozer kept on getting his pts., JVG should have change the game plan. JVG should have deviced a dynamic zone type of defense to counter Boozer. It's on the coach.
That's what I'm thinking as well. It seems unlikely we're going to pick up a quality PG by the trade deadline. So we'll be needing Brooks' speed and aggressiveness to put some pressure on the opponents come playoffs, as well as give the Rockets a reliable option at the PG position.
When I talk about players, I'm talking those mle types. The 9m guys force u to trade core players. Mle guys normally take bench guys. I'd look at clippers because the owner is cheap and the team is losing. Jaric is in the same boat on a losing team that's rebuilding. u can give them low expiring contracts like snyder and francis. Sadly I don't think morey is going to make a move.
The key to playing Utah is for Yao to get Okur in foul trouble early. That would force Collins to play, letting Yao guard Collins and letting one of our PFs guard Boozer. Yao can't guard Okur because Okur takes him too far away from the basket and would give Boozer too much space in the lane. With Yao guarding Collins, Yao could still be around to give weakside support which would be really needed against Boozer.
this was where jvg really made me mad. he's sooooo stubborn. if something is obviously not working, why not change it? granted you may not know if you're changing it for the better or worse, but to stick to what's NOT working and expect it somehow to work (by "execute better"?) is, excuse me, just a bit r****ded.
i thought the same thing. yao failed to do this in the series last year. i don't know if jvg and yao thought the same. part of it was the refs, but the main part was on yao.
back to the op, i don't feel really great about the current rockets team. 2 reasons. for one, though we won 15 out of 18 (went from 15-17 to 15-3 ), we're still out of the top 8. two, something tells me there's still something missing, but i don't know what exactly. maybe it is mj sucks, maybe it is i'm just not as pumped up as a lot people on our 2 rookies. landry and brooks are decent and are probably the best drafts we've had in years, but they still need time. like i said in another thread, ideally i'd like to see a stronger pg and a better backup 2 guard. but i also realize you can't have an all star at every position. so otoh, i can't really say i'm worried. you've gotta love what is going on right now with this team though. this is the craziest western conf. we've seen in a long while, no one really knows what's gonna happen.
