Sarcastic but so true. I am so sick of so called "fans" on here not wanting to make the playoffs because they want to draft at 13 instead of 16. Its getting annoying.
Sorry, I just thought this was a personal poll. (sometimes I think I need to quit this place because I seriously don't understand the mindset at times...maybe going back into lurk mode would be better option for me)
the reality is the rockets have played in very few meaningless games in the past 12/13 years it was different when the rockets were playing the jazz and lakers every year in the playoffs i voted jazz tho
Wow, the Jazz.. still? Hatred runs deep lol.. but they haven't won a championship and it seems to me their team is falling apart, I think karma? I chose the Heat*
Historically, it's not even close. I suppose I can understand why some are voting for the Lakers given what happened two years ago and the way things went down, but I honestly can't fathom hating an NBA team more than I hate the Jazz. Hell, I don't even like the state itself because of their fricken basketball team. I'd say that's pretty bad if I hate an entire American state because of their championship-less, flopping basketball team.
What is the historical precedence of that Jazz hate? We beat them twice en route to championships. They beat us the last 3 times in the playoffs, but ultimately didn't win the ring. I'd argue there is just as much "history" between the Rockets and the Lakers as there is between the Rockets and Jazz. And right now, there's no question which team I'd rather beat.
I've hated the Spurs and their boring Tim Duncan style of play, but that seems to be changing this year. The Jazz still have some unlikable figures. You can always find dirty play out of them as long as Sloan is there.
Mark Cuban on Rome is Burning talking about how the Rockets are struggling because Yao is out. He says we are a great team with him. Nicest thing hes ever said about us.... Oh well who cares.
1997. They stole Hakeem's chance to give a big F.U. to Jordan's Bulls. That will forever torment me. Unless, of course, the 'asterisks' talk doesn't bother you.
It's definitely the Lakers for me. We've never played the Spurs in the playoffs and the Mavs and Jazz have never won a championship, so it's hard to have the same level of hatred for those teams.
As a Rockets fan, it's obviously (and always WILL be) the j*zz. As an NBA fan, this year it's the Heat.
Recent losses to the Lakers have been pretty routine. Nothing to really get upset about. Sure, there's a number of series against the Lakers, but let's face it, in 2009, the Rockets were an inferior team that was basically lucky to take the Lakers to 7 after Yao went down in Game 1. Deflating, but just something that happened when you put #11 on the floor regardless of opponent. Not so compared to the 2007 and 2008 Jazz losses, where the two teams were basically even, but the Jazz used matchups to murder us. 2004? Again, a low seed rockets team that had no chance to win anything serious, loses in round 1. So what. 1999? A Rockets team that was falling apart internally by the time the playoffs rolled around. They were over the hill at that point, and we knew it. Hakeem & Barkley's window was closed. Why? Because Karl Malone tackled Clyde Drexler in Game 6, 1997, denying the world the Dream Final, and pretty much closing the window forever. The Rockets other notable series against the Lakers worked out pretty well for the Rockets, scoring some notable upsets. Hard to develop a resentment for a team that you handled, not to metnion the fact that the Lakers were fun to watch and dished out proxy pain to Celtics fans those years. Not so for the lame-ass Jazz. They didn't even win anything in the years the Rockets lost to them. They just wasted a finals spot.
I don't really hate the Jazz. Okay, so they beat the Rockets in the first round in 2007 and 2008. The point is that they didn't make the Finals. I was wishing for karma that year. What goes around comes around. So I, as a rocket fan, got my revenge. I mean the Rockets have 2 titles and how many the Jazz have? For me, it's the Celtics. They ruined the Rockets 22 game winning streak and beat the Rockets in 1981 and 1986 in the Finals. Definitely the Celtics.
