The Bobcats owner is Robert Johnson.

This reminds me of the Southpark satire on John Edward..."Your dad is telling me there's something significant about the month of November..." "November?!? My dad's uncle's cat died in November!"

-just win=subtracting Vin Baker??? or it won't happen unless we drop Vin with the amnesty clause?

    This is the season.
Either this is the season that we are gonna drop these big moves and go for it all, or this is the season we move into lux tax land, or this is the season that Spanoullis and/or Badiane comes over. He keeps saying no point as if no point acquired in trade, . So, maybe we are gonna bring over Spanoullis???

Other than LLE and our free agent signings we have 2 and 3 positions left.....maybe?

We are going for a swingman??? Is he left handed???

Our test, big time, is if the layoff deal is relieved from suspension. If so, ALL changes. Really no point to this. Just need to make sure we don't get a stern warning again.

layoff deal sounds like the JJ to Atlanta deal. If that deal goes through, then this deal for Artest is off. But if it doesn't, then there apparently may be some deal on the table for Artest that is up to the Pacers to pull the trigger involving the Suns and probably Marion going to Phoenix along with Sura, and us taking back Artest and Croshere ..........????.....?????

Fruition is an immediate export for the current fab 5. Not trying to be too pointed, too forward or guarded.

Jalen Rose is going to be cut with the amnesty cut and he will come here. Or there is a trade on the table for Jalen. Is Jalen left handed???

Obviously, Ming bling is the max contract.

Artest's value may be diminished severly because if he does get involved in another incident, he could be suspended for life. If that is indeed the case, then there is probably not a big market for him, superstar or not. That's a huge risk to take for a team. I can see Indiana being willing to dump him for a player of Marion's ability in those circumstances. Bird may have become painfully aware that Artest is too risky and he's gonna try to get something for him now. Phoenix dealing Marion and making amends with Joe Johnson makes sense too, provided they can't get this deal with Atlanta done. Maybe there is a 4 team involved that needs to pick up salary like Charlotte, and we send them some expirings and they in turn send a big trade exception to Phoenix???? Maybe Phoenix gets Gerald Wallace, a couple #1 picks from us, and a big trade exception, while we get Artest, and Charlotte picks up some of our expirings to meet their minimum payroll and Indy gets Marion and gets to get something else of value, maybe salary relief in the form of Croshere, or something like that????

    :D

MemphisX is a good contributor, but he does have his blinders. He thought Tmac to us was a pipe dream. Most of last season he thought Swift to us for an MLE was a pipe dream. I saw him thinking 60 wins is a pipe dream is a good sign ;)

I don't think I am considered one of the major homers around here, if anything I am pessimist (not to rehash of threads). In this case I very much agree with Zacatecas.

But I disagree with a lot of the premise that we have "big problems" in the backcourt. If we did nothing else but add Glover and Head to last year's group Sura, DW, MJ, JB that may suffice in the regular season and playoffs. You have to remember Sura and DW were largely worn down by us having no depth most of the season, and we even required our guards to cover 3 positions in crunch time in the playoffs because we played Tmac at the 4. That will never happen again. Further we were an extremely formable last year--playing as well as anyone--once we had Sura/DW/MJ/JB and still had JH. With all the key players returning, a couple of nice additions, and natural progression of Tmac and Yao, we are right there.

Overall, I don't think our backcourt is that bad. Average to below average veteran back-courts have won the title before (94, 99), ours is certainly comparable to the Spurs in 99--who smoked other playoffs teams because like with us they had the most offensively and defensively dominating front line in the league. Just solid all around veteran guard play could be enough to land the 05 title in Houston.

Sure we will look for chances to add another piece via the LLE or trade with expiring contracts, but we are far from desperate and it is far from a necessity to have a great regular and playoff seasons.

Desert Scar, I hope you are right about the playoffs. I never said we were desperate. Desperate is Tyronne Lue and Charlie Ward.

We will do very well during the regular season and, unless something weird happens, we will win 50-60 games. It may take a while for things to click with Swift, assuming he responds well to JVG's demands. But by mid-season, I expect us to mash teams, even some of the good ones.. The problem is what if Sura is hobbled again (very likely) and Luther Head isn't ready to step in (also likely)? What if DW & JB show their age (35 & 36) near the end of the year (likely)?

My sole concern is the playoffs. Yes, the complete absence of a PF (very unlikely to happen again next year) magnified the deficiencies in the backcourt agains the Mavs. But we are still deficient and I want us to improve. We are close enough that 56 wins and a 2nd round exit won't do it for me. If we stand pat, I feel our backcourt will fail us again in the real season. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm happy that we got Swift too but thus far Swift hasn't proven to be Star Caliber player in the NBA.

We're still working on "if Vin Baker scored a basket in the middle of the forest, with no one around to see it, does it still count?"

the mystery guest could make them the best
    if only he could lead

what is his name, they request
will he leave his so called nest?
the man is trouble, don't burst my bubble

I'm sure that we won't be as disappointed as other teams, that have high-profile, and disappointing gms. Nothing like losing a valuable player for nothing is there?
