I think he is Mchale's type of PG....no risky passes. Bev is the opposite of Lin. I get entertained with Lin's home run hitter passes /assists. I don't see that type of play from Beverley. I've have not seen seen a football pass, the threading the needle pass or dime in tight situations from him yet. He is very conservative. That's why I think Mchale likes him.
In other words, a mediocre pg who aspires for mediocrity. Someone who can help McHale focus on not losing, rather than winning.
what kind of passes did multi championship pgs during their championship run like fisher, parker, and chalmers make?
I don't think Parker belongs in that list. Also, when we have Kobe/Shaq, Kobe/Gasol, Wade/Lebron, then we can be ok with a game manager at PG. Right now, we have Harden.
I'm most surprised he has been hitting spot up 3s. I thought he was a mediocre-to-bad shooter. His ability to hit open 3s has been a very pleasant surprise and has made the loss of Douglas less painful.
Why can't we enjoy that Beverley had a great game, stood up and kept cool in the 4Q of a very important game for the Rockets, and that we can feel more confident there's depth behind Lin with TD gone. Jeremy Lin doesn't need to take on the world by himself. He needs a good back up. I'm pleasantly surprised by James Anderson, and hope that Garcia can be even better if he plays when Harden takes a rest or isn't playing well. It's a team game. Beverley is a great mid-season addition for the minimum contract with the next two years locked up. It's also great that Beverley plays with a different style to Lin. There's no sin in that. It's great you have two different types of players to give the opponent two different looks - offensively and/or defensively. But it's one quarter, so keep the perspective. Beverley has been streaky with his shooting, very hot when he first joined, and then cooled off for a stretch. It's all small sample size at the moment. But he is relatively more experienced than Lin (college and internationally, not NBA level), so let's hope he can be consistent. We're playing for the playoffs, so we need everybody to step up when called on.
He just starting hitting them in Europe this season. I guess he showed enough for Morey to think it was a permanent improvement. I don't know worry about the PG position with Morey here. He has proven time and time again that he can get a quality PG without investing too much. Brooks, Lowry, Dragic, Lin, Beverley. Even Douglas was decent for us.
really don't consider patrick a rookie because he was on the miami heat roster at one point in his career.
He shot 36% from 3 this year in Europe. He's never had the shooting percentage he has now. It's too small a sample size to judge.
This. I also want to see more Anderson for Harden because he needs some rest at times. I really hope that McHale doesn't injure Harden badly because we need his offensive skill set to go deeper into the playoffs (Assuming McHale doesn't **** it up).
so you admit that a mediocare PG can lead to championships as long as we have at least 2 all-star calibre players in the team
Not a mediocre but a solid/average point should do the trick. What doesn't work is having an elite PG and solid/average surrounding players.
