This is him (AggnRox) from the game thread.... While Rockets were pulling away from the Magic behind some solid play from Beverly, what was this Lin jock rider doing? That's right, you guessed it. He was whining and b****ing as to why Lin was not in the game. Completely oblivious to the FACT that Beverly was making a difference out there....and again the Rockets were WINNING. Same way he could have made a difference in the Philly game had McHale not benched him and brought Lin, despite Beverly producing in the game. "one game" Ha! This thread isnt about Lin. This is about Beverly. But of course, anytime these Lin jock sniffers see a thread praising a guard not named Lin, on the *gasp* Houston Rockets board of all the places, their insecurities kick in. This is your typical Lin fan.... "If Beverly keeps playing this good, McHale wont bring in Lin!" "What is wrong with Douglas? He keeps making all of his threes in 4th quarter!" "Why do the Rockets have more than one PG?!? Lin can play 78 minutes a game" Want to give a Lin fan, who calls himself a Rocket fan, a heart attack? Tell him Rockets just traded for Chris Paul and Lin will be Paul's backup. Spoiler You cant tell him that the Rockets traded away Lin. Now that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it? Reality Check segment: No one is expecting Patrick Beverly to be an All-star. No one is looking at him as a starting PG either (at least not yet ). But if you cannot see that he has produced well for the Rockets in the 18 games he has played for them so far given limited minutes, and that he has been an excellent back-up guard so far, you either have not been paying attention or you are a Lin fan and your insecurities are flaring up. Hey Lin fans.... I got two words for you. Aaron Brooks Sleep Tight.
Understand. Been many years since I was in college. We used to have our papers we typed up to be in good proper English. Any foreign students we had may not speak good English but still typed up their papers in good English. Take care.
Umm nope, was just posting the ridiculous hypocrisy of your post. Especially the comment where you automatically wrote off the kid, because he had to go overseas like nobody has ever came back and had success here, but are locked at the lips with Lin despite he has proven very little himself. BTW, the reason why this thread is here isn't just because of "one game", there were plenty of threads about this guy (beverley) in the past and 12 games started isn't exactly a good measuring stick, especially when it happened for another team. What you really should be focused on is why we have now rolled with two PGs who were picked off the trash heap exclusively in 4th quarters of play and now why we signed Aaron Brooks. Part of that could be because Lin's more injured than the team is letting on, or they just want more debt, or their looking for a upgrade, but please don't give me the lame *** excuse that McHale just hates the guy and has it out for him. His top players doing well is only in his best interest for future employment. Trust me, I'm positive McHale wants Lin to succeed just as much as you do.
no way can you put PB as high on a platform with CP3 at this time. I'm seeing him play much more like a combo of Mad max and Sam Cassell Both Sam and Vernon could shoot, drive and pass... But Mad Max would shut down MJ and others all the time. PB has that knack.. That Defensive motor because it has been drilled into him from a young age. Patrick Beverly is a hoops dream kid (Hoop Reality) and he's the one that made it into the NBA.
PB has great defense, better than TD. He has crazy quick hands.... And a better three than JLin at the moment, however he has no feel or creativity compared to JLin.... Than again that quality is not valued by the coach, the coach doesn't want the PG to create. Defence, three point shooting and bringing the ball up the court quickly, thats what the coach wants, and PB has that in spades...
Are all LOFs as insecure as you? I think you must be. OP makes spot on points that are backed up by enough like games that they are clearly NOT knee jerk reactions. OP is repped.
The kid seems to have found his shooting stroke in Europe. In the modern NBA, the PG has to be able to shoot. It doesn't matter how great your passing skills are, you are hindrance if your man can sag off of you into the lane. Jason Kidd didn't win any games in Dallas even Jamal Mashburn and Jim Jackson because he couldn't shoot. As good a Ricky Rubio is at passing, and he special, the pups aren't going to do anything until he learns how to shoot.
Some statistical factoids about Beverley: Second to Harden on the team in PER and WS/48 and ASPM Point Differential Per 100 Possessions is 9.8 points better with him on the floor than off the floor (albeit, limited minutes) In 19 games he's played, we outscored the opponent with him on the floor in 15 of them.
I just still don't understand why we signed AB. Either he's going to take all of Beverley's minutes, which would be a shame because Beverley is doing great right now, or AB will ride the pine as a third-stringer and get pissed off about it. I don't see what other outcome there could be really. They're not going to stop playing Lin, he's doing well too and I have the feeling Les would fire McHale on the spot.
Harden and Lin seems to get injured or at least sore more often recently. Maybe the 60 games at the fastest pace of the league and all the collisions are taking a toll on them. As we are approaching postseason, it is necessary to build more depth with serviceable guard as insurance.
But will Brooks be happy as a third stringer? It's just hard for me to see him being satisfied with zero minutes barring injury
Exactly. He played in a small second division club in Ukraine to start. But then at one season he was getting 9 minutes a game as the 5th guard in the rotation of Olympiacos. You are talking about one of the 4 biggest European clubs along with Barca, CSKA, and PAO. Obviously, 9 minutes and 5th guard isn't that great, but it was still high level experience. Olympiacos played in the finals of the Euroleague that year, and in one of the top national leagues in Greece. Then he was playing in Spartak, where you get good competition in Russian League, Eurocup (second European league) and United League, which is for example better than Spanish League is. And in Spartak he was playing 32 minutes a game for example last season in Eurocup. And it was a team that made the last four of the tournament. So even though it's not Euroleague level, that's still good high level experience. A guy that has played in tournaments like Euroleague Final Four and Eurocup Final Four can no way be considered a rookie. There is just no way. He's a season professional player already.
