It should be interesting to see if more turn out than the usual motley assortment of Libertarians protesting taxes you see out by the post office protesting taxes. This time we should see more folks as we have the usual suspect billionaires pushing the anti-tax line and apparently confusing some old ladies. What is sad is to see the deserved populist anger at the bailouts being misdirected to push elitist anti-tax, anti-government policies.
There was one at Discovery Green last month (ironically it's a taxpayer funded venue, as is the Alamo). A couple dozen people wandered by. There was one black guy who spoke, and I did see a Hispanic guy as well. Of course, the Hispanic was standing on the sidelines mocking, but still, they did appear to draw two minorities.
Umm no. I was there. It wasn't at the Toyota Center. 24,000 people do not fit on Discovery Green sir. There were people stretching out on blankets to take a nap because the acre or so site was barren. There were more people eating lunch at the Grill than there were protesting. It was a couple dozen. If I can find my adapter I'll post the pix I took.
Maybe you werre mistaken, because we are talking about a wave of political backlash washing over the country. So you say "there were people stretching out...on the acre site" as far as the eye could see?
Maybe you should have gone. Here's the video. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DgdWL8pjo6I&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DgdWL8pjo6I&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I'm not counting 24,000 people there. Are you? BTW my apologies. There was apparently yet a third minority there, as an AA woman asked a question midway through.
Just found out the Twin Cities one is going to be at the State Capital, about a mile away from the river so unfortunately no dumping of tea into the water but Michelle Bachman will be there. It start at 5PM so I might try to swing by and check it out.
True, but, bummer for you... You are a self avowed moderate. That means that you have to treat Bachman like she makes sense. It also means you have to sway with the country as it decides what it thinks. Here's a tip: It's way easier to believe in something and, while staying open minded, kind of stand up for what you believe in. Bachman is certifiable. But, as a "moderate-no-matter-what," I guess you'll have to look at both sides of that: the crazy and the way crazier. Maybe she can turn you on to a good teabagging spot. If so, take pictures!
Wow! How did Schuster get away with this? Absolutely hilarious... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8i-OWDjOQfI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8i-OWDjOQfI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
What if I'm just there because I like her courgarish looks? Yep I have no personal beliefs. I just follow the crowd, and am trading my Kobe jersey for a Lebron one since the Cavs have just gotten the best record in the NBA.
