Inappropriate emotions - actions- behavior. I would be subdued I think, not loud and elated. My deepest sympathies to that family. +
Me too... it really hits close to home thinking someone could do something like this at your own high school.

I saw the interview. She seems like a strong lady. I think I would react almost exactly like her in this situation. To each his own though.
There's really no way you can say how you would react unless you've been in that situation. She may just be trying to block out the loss of her daughter and cover it up with other feelings. I don't think that's a good way to handle it, but people do strange things when faced with traumatic situations.
She was a trainer for the Clements football team. I didn't know her very well but after talking with people that knew her, she seemed like a good person who didn't deserve to go out this way.
No one can say for sure just how you would react until your put into this kind of situation. My prayers go out to her family.
Being relatively wealthy gringos (not sure how much money they had on them) who don't speak spanish, they probably thought they were safer hinding out in Canada where they could blend in.
I went to that school and graduated in '98. I know the exact spot where they found her and it's actually quite scary to think about it. I drove by Oilfield 2-3 nights a week going and coming home from playing tennis at the Commonwealth area. I can't even imagine the thought of driving down that road with my g/f to the tennis courts again. That road is one scary road. It was much worse years before. It'e a DARK road with 2 lanes going the opposite directions. There's a oil construction area and a lot of horses and cows on the side. Next to the roads are 2 ditches that are scary as hell to drive next to. Closer to the Highway 6 area, there's always this church with a dim light on that's really scary to drive by at night. At the area where she was found, that's as dark as you could imagine. I always drive down the road with my highlights on just so I can see the road clearer.(When no one else is driving in front of me or coming my way, of course.) The main reason in doing so is that my mom ran into a deer back then on that same road. It's a refreshing place to drive by during the daytime, but at night... you almost have the worst fears of getting jumped by someone or something along the road, it's that frightening. I felt so bad hearing about this story because she must have gone through hell and back if she was attacked at that place. CHS is one of the more friendly and competitive schools I could ever have imagined. The students are very different in every way, but most of them seems perky and down to earth as what this student's Myspace seems to detail. I'm glad that the two guys are caught, but I do not like the mother's reactions. At any rate, rest in peace....
here is one of the killer's page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=70238007 seems he was into guns and stuff
I don't know if you saw the story a couple of weeks ago, but that church caught fire. They were able to put it out before it got the whole building, but were suspecting arson. I went to Elkins, a guy I knew hit pigs twice on Oilfield coming to school. One of the pigs got lodged under his car and he had to call a tow truck. The news report with the mother was kind of surprising to me too. I couldn't believe the lady was the mother, I've never seen anyone respond that way. As others have said though, different people respond differently to different things.
I remember seeing a dead black boar/pig on the road one night when I returned from tennis. I live in the Lake Olympia area.... I had to swerve and my high lights caught it in time for me to go around it. That was one crazy event. I've always been frightened to drive down that road alone. For those of you with weird remarks to that, save it to yourself until you drive down that road in the middle of the night. Especially when it was a few years ago and they didn't start building houses towards the Hwy 6 end of that road. It's pretty scary. I remember when there used to be a person that walks around that dim light all the time. It just makes me want to go 60-80mph and rush past and hope for a green light across Hwy 6 to enter Lake Olympia.
Yeah my wife and I saw the interview last night. We were pretty dumbfounded when we saw her reaction. I would've said, "I'm glad that these guys have been caught but getting caught is not going to bring my baby girl back. I hope that justice is served. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to go back in now and mourn"
