You are correct sir....I got my NY Strip and Ribeye's mixed up.

Still the best steck by far.....it is a T-bone with a much bigger cut of Filet.

    Chateaubriand. then Ribeye, then filet.

I like flavor. No flavor in the strip. Blah. Tough and stringy. It's good for stew...I guess - if you cook it slow enough it so falls apart.

I like my steaks as raw as possible.

You can't beat a good uncooked steak.

Agreed except I like my ribeye medium.

I went to Fogo de Chao in Sao Paulo, Brazil several years ago and it was beyond description. What an experience! Forgot one opened up here 3-4 years ago. I might have to give it a try. If any meat lover has never eaten at a good Brazilian restaurant, try it.

I've always considered filet to be less flavorful. Isn't that why they wrap it in bacon or cover it with bernaise?

Agree w/ you on the strips.

As was I when I went there. For over $100 for 2, I expected a lot better than the average Outback dinner...it was slightly better (at best) and the waiter sucked.

There is a trade off between tenderness and flavor. A well marbled choice or prime filet will be your most tender cut, but it is also the least flavorful. I too happen to really like a good Ribeye. Recently though I had something I really enjoyed: I was at the HEB in Friendswood, and they have a pretty good selection of USDA Prime beef (a rarity unless you're in the high end steakhouse biz). I got a nice big top sirloin steak (probably the least expensive "true" steak cut of beef), but I got it in USDA Prime, the "price per pound" ended up being similar to the USDA Select Rib Eyes you get at Kroger. It was awesome! Full of flavor, yet plenty tender at the same time. I definitely recommend trying it.

I agree. I've been cleaning them out of Prime Top Sirloins at 6.99 a lb. The tenderness and flavor just can't be beat after those guys relax on my grill for a few minutes.

You beat me to it... just say you're on the Atkins diet and everything will be ok. :D

Oh, and ribeye... it's God's gift to mankind. Or at least a cow's gift...

I agree, but I have mine medium well. The Melbourne from Outback is always a nice deal... although I tend to enjoy Saltgrass more. Yes, I know there are better steak houses out there but I don't tend to drop 100 bucks a meal if I don't have to :p

A cow's gift to mankind or a gift to a cow from God? Because I would think that a cow wouldn't think it was a gift from God, if they had their way their flesh would taste like dirt :p

I've had it once, it is good but not 120 bucks good... but then again I guess if you don't think twice about paying 120 bucks for an 8 ounce steak you're not too worried about it being a good deal.
