Romney is desperate, he is down in Ohio and has to take chances. He does not care if he held a campaign rally, he does not care if the supplies are not wanted by Red Cross, he does not care about people suffering. All Romney cares about is being able to call himself President.
Romney is not desperate. The President is desperate. Look at the foolish ads his campaign is putting out. They're desperate because Obama is d-o-n-e.
I don't think President Obama is done. But neither is it Obama's to lose. Any number of things can cause the tide to turn. The only thing we know for certain is that this won't be a 1972 or 1984. I think one interesting outcome would be if one of the candidates loses the popular vote but wins the election. Would this prompt a change in the process- meaning, would there be a change to count the popular vote as opposed to the electoral college?
This is a very possible outcome - especially now if Sandy reduces turnout in NJ and NY, which would reduce Obama's popular vote but not change the EC at all. In that scenario, you can be sure the right would go nuts, as the left did in 2000. That election started a movement called the National Popular Vote: http://nationalpopularvote.com/ You can see the map at the bottom of the screen - basically, once states with 270 ECs approve the plan, the national vote is all that matters and the EC is rendered irrelevant. Right now, it's mostly the left that hates the EC, so you see big blue states having passed it - about 130-140 ECs worth, I believe. If it costs Romney the election, you'll probably start seeing the same movement in some big red states, and that might get us to the end of the EC.
this is entire thread is simply prepping the battlefield for the Obama loss on 11/6. folks know they're going to lose, and are looking for an excuse, anything, for why the SCOAMFOTUS lost. rather than look at the results (or lack thereof) of four years of Obama.
