hell yes novak! finding a way to help the team.. that's all i ask. That and giving me a reason (excuse) to wear his jersey again
I've said it and I'll say it again..... Steve Novak is a pure shooter. He's a Jason Kapono/Jose Calderon version of the Rockets. NOT a scorer but a shooter. Huge difference. If given the chance, I have a gut feeling he could be one of or if not the best 3-point shooters in the league. Looking up his numbers..... He was the 2005-06 NCAA 3-point shooting championd, currently holds the record at Marquette for number of 3-pointers made (354), and consecutive free throws made (64). Also, during his senior season at Marquette his numbers improved and he went on to average 18 points a game, 6 rebounds a game, and shot 97.50% from the free throw line. His college career averages from the free throw line is 91% and 50% from the 3-point line.
We all know he could shoot, and it only make sense to play him a few minutes since this team can't shoot straight... but i was most impressed with the 5 rebounds..they had said that he had been a good rebounder down in the NBDL, and it looked like that part of his game's improved.
Yeah. Jose Calderon. Look at his stats: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3989/gamelog;_ylt=AmqJOT03VC8wrvNfr0eMYYSkvLYF 51% in field goals, 88% in free throws, 40% from the 3-point range. And, look at his assists.
He's not a pure shooter. That was one of his main weaknesses coming in from Spain. His percentage is very high because he's very selective, not because he's deadeye. Although I'll admit it, he's been taking a lot more this year and he's really improved. As for Novak, my expectations for him haven't changed. He can make an open shot and nothing more. He's our Matt Carroll.
Novak didn't do a damn thing until that last shot. He's great for a single possession in those circumstances. But it's always a huge gamble putting him in the game for extended minutes. Before Novak hit that shot, we were outscored by 10 since he had entered the game.
that run wasn't because of novak or his poor defense. the kings had been on a run before he was put in.
Anyway, this is a good start for Novak. I think this is a great moment for him, and his career may be changed forever!
I didn't like all the complainin of V. Span but who knows maybe he would have been decent this year.....
well for him to do that he would actually need to get some shots...steve isnt the type to create his own shot (much like steve kerr) if a play isnt run for him or a pass made to him for the open shot, he cant really hit it now can he...I remember him taking 2 total shots during the game, both wide open...he hit one, the big one. the team just became too stagnant trying to force feed Yao into the post and tmac holding onto the ball too long. and yeah it was artest killing the rockets and novak wasnt guarding him, he was guarding miller the entire time who hit one step back/falling away three on novak. miller can hit the 3 ball but he isnt really a guy who likes to shoot it from there
