    Is this a joke?

I don't think Democrats hate family. It's usually Democrats who support programs to help families and Republicans who vote against those type programs. Democrats are big on programs and assistance to help children in poverty, programs to provide assistance for families living in poverty, programs for food assistance, free or affordable healthcare for children and families who can't afford it, and programs and support for women and children escaping domestic violence. When I see bills for social services to help families, women, single parents, and children I certainly see more votes against them coming from Republicans. I've actually seen folks call that kind of help Communism.

I think they're losing their mind. They're creating issues out of thin air and blaming them all on the left. Or maybe they are truly is a cartoon character. We may never know.

I'm not just talking about SNAP and you know it. You made the stupid comment that Democrats hate families, which is pure BS.

Giving people choices on what to do with their money for their retirement isn't screwing the poor. That money isn't or shouldn't be going to feed the poor. SS is a different thing than paying taxes, it's an investment (A poor one) in a persons future.

But you're right, once the govt gets its hands on your money it's not your money anymore. I dont like the idea of the govt taking my money and doing with it as they see fit. Let the people keep their money and do with it as they see fit.

It’s not that hard to figure out. It’s dollars and cents. A large chunk of our tax payer dollars goes to pay for our military. We could easily pay for universal healthcare and UBI if we cut the military budget in half.

It’s about priorities we’ve been sold. Yes coming out of ww2 FDR and Eisenhower obviously made it clear it’s important for the US to lead the world but Eisenhower also spoke often about the dangers of the military industrial complex… which really went out of control years later when 9/11 was used to justify a massive expansion, abuse, and ballooning of our debt in order to be what we are today.

However you personally have no credibility to weigh in on this topic. The guy you worship is the guy who added more to the debt than any other president, caters to the oligarchs who run the military industrial complex, is currently funding ads to undermine Medicare to shift to privatization of Medicare, and trying to do the same with social security. Who was it that called Social Security a Ponzi scheme??… yeah your boy Elon.

So maybe sit this one out bubba. Voters and vocal supporters of presidents like Bush and Trump are really the problem. We have the money to have nice things but the political priorities of right wing voters like you are what keeps us heading down this path of diminished social entitlements, corrupt military for hire, and ballooning debt all to make the rich richer.

Bruh. Not cool at all. I'll have you know my father was a delivery driver for Mrs Bairds off Calder road back in the 80s. I'd spend hours at the warehouse with him while he did 'paperwork' to avoid my mom. I gorged on an endless supply of stale pecan pies that were to be returned back to the factory.

You just might be on to something

about 13.5% of the budget is spent on military spending, 850 billion. Lol you think 425 billion is going to cover universal healthcare and UBI? 1.9 trillion is spend on medicare and medicaid. Did you even bother to look at the numbers? You're not even close with your nonsensical rambling. So you're just either dumb or a troll. And you do not have the sense of humor for a troll.

You do realize Obama continued most of Bushes policies like the patriot act and endless wars, right? Or are you just a partisan hack with zero self awareness?

Medicare and Medicaid already pay for a significant portion of healthcare. DOD, VA, and every other government entity spend a large portion of their budget on employee health. It wouldn't be as expensive as people think to make it happen.

It's estimated to be 1.5T. Removing all the unnecessary waste, it can be a 1/3 of that. Giving it to the government would be significantly higher.

So how do we get to a system that isn't abused by private offerings (subsidized by government) or a government system that isn't highly inefficient?

Labor should be paid for by the user and the government should subsidize non labor costs.
