I'd love it if both Trump and Cruz got voted out. The only thing better than that would be seeing Paxton get voted out next time too.
How Helene and a locked gate escalated Rep. Virginia Foxx’s feud with her NC neighbors Danielle Battaglia Thu, October 24, 2024 at 5:00 AM EDT·13 min read Typically after tragedy strikes a community you hear about how it brought people together. This is not that story. Two weeks ago, McClatchy received a report that U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx, a Republican from Banner Elk, was preventing seven people from driving off their property at the base of Grandfather Mountain after the collapse of a road she owns with her husband, Tom. What transpired in the two weeks since is a convoluted story of how property rights, private roads and stubbornness can bring out the worst in people. Flo Davis, 70, lives at the top of Rime Frost Road with her husband, Glen, their son, Will, their daughter-in-law, Meghan, and their three grandchildren ages 2, 4 and 7. On Sept. 26, Hurricane Helene showed no mercy to Banner Elk, Davis or Foxx. Two feet of rain fell over the Foxx and Davis properties. The rain caused a portion of the hill that the Foxx residence sits on to give way. But a much bigger issue for the two neighbors is what happened further up the road next to the Watauga River. As the 24 inches of rain fell, the river swelled, leaving its banks. Halfway up a steep incline, the river hollowed out the underside of Rime Frost Road, causing more than half of the road’s only lane to collapse into the river below. And that cut access from Rime Frost Road to Highway 105, the main thoroughfare from Boone to Banner Elk. For the Davises, they say, there’s no other way out of their property by vehicle. For the Foxxes, the congresswoman says she has a right of way through the road behind her, and she can cut across the fields of her own property to access that right of way. She says she’s not using that route because of a rickety bridge on J H McLean Road. And if the Foxxes gave the Davises permission, they could too. But Foxx says that’s not going to happen. “When you let somebody on your property, you become liable for anything that happens, and that’s a significant thing,” Foxx said. “People have been sued for big amounts of money as a result of being on somebody’s property, even when they’re allowed to be on their property. They can get into big time trouble, and that’s an issue. We’ve always taken that stuff very seriously.” So the Foxxes have cut off access to their property using locked gates — some with vehicles parked behind those gates. Continued at link...
TL;DR version: GOP Rep in NC literally not loving thy neighbor, not even barely moving a hand to help thy neighbor, but instead being a royal beeyotch to thy neighbor out of fear of mysterious, unlikely outcomes that could harm her financially if they happened. Wow.
Reading her Wikipedia page, I'm not surprised. The woman opposes birthright citizenship, opposes gay and LGTB rights, opposes abortion under any circumstances, opposed the Affordable Care Act, applauded Trump for revoking Obama's Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order, is known for frequently scolding reporters, is a staunch Trump ally, and even voted against Hurrican Katrina aid. Truly a record to be proud of!
Think of all the times Trump spewed out in all caps on his Truth Social that Harris was a Marxist, Communist, and Fascist. He tweeted it over and over and over again. He spewed it over and over and over at rallies. Why didn't the Republican Party members criticize Trump then for what they now point fingers at Harris for and call it "reckless" behavior? It's what makes the Republican party a bunch of Trump boot licking hypocrites over and over again. Whether it's criminal acts, free speech, fraud, election integrity, law and order, justice, the peaceful transfer of power, sedition, and everything else, Trump is never to be blamed in their double standard of what is wrong or right. The video clips Jake Tapper plays show just a few examples of Trump saying the exact thing those hypocrites criticize when Harris speaks. Trump's been spewing that crap for years. GOP criticizes Harris for calling Trump 'fascist', Tapper’s ‘rogue’ control room highlights double standard CNN's Jake Tapper breaks down Republican hypocrisy on former President Donald Trump's use of the word "fascist" after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Mike Johnson said it was "reckless" of Vice President Kamala Harris to call Trump a fascist. https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/25/politics/video/tapper-trump-harris-fascist-lead-digvid
This is just sad the members of the GOP should be haunted for life they are allowing this to happen. https://www.propublica.org/article/josseli-barnica-death-miscarriage-texas-abortion-ban
And yet another so sad that these ladies are having to die behind GOP stupidity. https://www.lonestarlive.com/news/2...abortion-ban-was-preventable-doctors-say.html
I read over the article, an although this young lady should have gotten the procedure she needed much earlier, I do question whether we can blame her death solely on not getting an abortion. Yes, I understand that several OB-GYN's stated that if she would of gotten the procedure earlier, then she would of likely survived, but instead they had to wait almost 2 days before the heartbeat stopped. I also understand the autopsy report states that she died due to going into septic shock due to not removing the fetus in a timely manner that led to an infection. The only reason I don't necessarily like this story being used is because the young lady died 3 days later after the procedure. It sounds like she had complications from the procedure and should not have been discharged immediately, or she should of gone back to the ER immediately due to the heavy bleeding. Instead, she waited too long to go back to the hospital and maybe the doctor who she consulted with regarding the bleeding didn't take it very seriously (or she downplayed the seriousness of it) which is why she didn't get to a hospital quick enough. I support abortion, so not trying to poke holes for the sake of poking holes, but I do like getting the full context of the story. I can see the reason why they stated that our strong abortion laws led to this young lady's death, and yeah, if she would of gotten the procedure immediately knowing that the pregnancy was no longer viable, she would likely be here today, but at the same time, if she would of stayed at the hospital and they would of treated her with stronger antibiotics, could she have survived?
I see where your coming from but if these bad laws and a stacked SC that was put in place by mitch mcconnell and his fellow GOP members .We wouldn't even be needing to have to talk about this . Another young lady has died behind these bad laws.
This is so sad there needs to be a change these ladies are dying and no GOP member has said anything. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...tion-ban-texas-neveah-crain?CMP=share_btn_url
They should be blaming Jaylen Dwayne Edgar. You know, the actual murderer. He was also illegally carrying the firearm (people under 18 cannot carry in Florida). Why would one law that makes it illegal for him to carry work when another law that also made it illegal for him to carry didn't work?
I blame his parents. And Americans in general. It’s all on the them. Because magically only the US is capable of creating all of these individuals that shoot others all across the US every single day. It has absolutely nothing to do with the laws and the culture. So yes I BLAME JAYLEN AND JAYLEN ONLY!!!!!
But that story happened before Dobbs and before Texas changed some its law. It did not go into effect until 2022 after being passed on 9/1/2021, two days before this incident happened. Definitely a narrative that's trying to be pushed.
Texas SB8 was passed in May 2021 and went into effect on 9/1/21. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Heartbeat_Act Were you talking about a different law?
Same law but hospitals could only be charged with "felonies" starting in August 2022: https://www.texastribune.org/2022/08/25/texas-trigger-law-abortion/
