Unfortunately Trump says so much inflammatory things a lot of what he says gets lost in the torrent of stuff that he says.

They know it's ironic. They don't care. Their supporters don't care. There is no level of hypocrisy that will ever make a Republican check themselves and recognize they're wrong.

Speaker Johnson rejects Israel, Ukraine aid package ahead of Senate vote

The La. Republican said the bill needs border security measures -- after he and other Republicans rejected border security measures last week

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) preemptively rejected the Senate’s $95 billion national security package to aid Israel, Ukraine and other U.S. allies, saying in a statement that the package’s failure to address U.S. border security makes it a nonstarter in the House.

“In the absence of having received any single border policy change from the Senate, the House will have to continue to work its own will on these important matters,” Johnson said in a statement. “America deserves better than the Senate’s status quo.”

Johnson’s statement comes after he and other House leaders helped torpedo an earlier version of the legislation that includes sweeping border security measures and other reforms.

The Senate is voting on the package Monday night, with final passage expected any time in the next 30 hours, depending on how long the bill’s Republican opponents continue to delay its progress in protest.

The aid package has been long awaited by the White House, which requested the funds in October, shortly after Israel came under attack by Hamas. Republicans, including Johnson, demanded a border security piece be attached to it in exchange for their votes, but then abandoned the bipartisan border deal that was released earlier this month amid opposition from former president Donald Trump.

Johnson said the Senate should have “gone back to the drawing board to amend the current bill to include real border security provisions that would actually help end the ongoing catastrophe.”

Ukraine funding has become unpopular among GOP base voters, and Trump said at a recent rally he’d encourage Russia to do “whatever the hell they want” to NATO nations that he views are not spending enough money on defense.

No communion for you little lady ...

Idaho state Rep. Heather Scott introduced a bill this past Thursday to expand the definition of “cannibalism.” Didn’t realize that needed legislation, did you? It doesn’t. Idaho happens to be the only state in the country explicitly outlawing cannibalism —and clearly Scott feels more robust laws are needed.

Scott said on Thursday when she introduced the bill that she was inspired by the use of human composting in nearby states, which she said "disturbed" her, according to the Idaho Statesman.

Scott also said that she watched a clip online of a chef serving unsuspecting guests human flesh, which outraged her. News outlets later confirmed that the clip Scott referred to was from a prank show by comedian David Spade from nearly 10 years ago, Boise NBC affiliate KTVB reported.
