Of course he’s tapped into something. The human condition that leads entire portions of society to abstain from responsible civic duty in order to just live a fantastical lie that a strongman allows one to believe.

The realities of life are hard. The world is cruel. Having a strongman clown rule over you and just give up having personal responsibility is very enticing to people. It’s easier to just go through the McDonald’s drive through than it is to go to the store to get fresh food and make a healthy meal.

Hitler, Putin, Stalin, and what Trump aspires to be… yeah that’s a quick fix for a broken society to feel like winners in life right away in that moment while at the same time feeding the organs of the societal body slow poison.

These historical and potential future strongmen clowns like Trump… are more of a reality of how flawed we are as a species at times with how low we will go and how self defeating we can be. We are by far the most interesting species who can achieve amazing things while at the same time being an utter self destructive sh*t show.

I largely agree with this but that still doesn’t change the reality that Trump has tapped into something to build such loyal support.

This has always been a problem for Democrats and others is how to address those grievances that his base hold. While we can disagree on the solutions there are issues affecting rural working class and mostly white Americans. Disruptions due to globalization, the opioid crisis, and shrinking of rural communities are real problems. While I am pro immigration our immigration system has many problems. Trump and the MAGA movement have successfully exploited those and if we want to ultimately defeat MAGA as a viable political movement those issues need to be addressed.

 

People are still acting like these mindless MAGA drones are rational?

How are u supposed to address people that are fed lies on a daily basis that they believe without question?

How are u supposed the address grievances like “white replacement” and all the other bullsh*t they cry about?

You probably can’t but that doesn’t mean you can’t address things like the opiod crisis and farm consolidations.

My own view when talking to MAGA people is to emphasize Trump’s corruption. That while you agree with Trump on many issues he is a conman and is conning his supporters. Whether it’s from redirecting money to go

I do admit it’s tiresome to constantly keep expecting Democrats to just reason a little better to a large group of people that hate everything you stand for and a portion of those people actually think you are an existential threat to the universe.

It’s not a fair thing to expect the Democratic Party to fix unless they themselves went autocratic and blitzed the media within some serious mind control propaganda. The media system here in the US and most Democratic countries just isn’t built for the moment.

In reality those idiots in our country and a lot of countries flirting with fascism probably just have to learn their lesson just like Italy, Spain, and Germany had to learn 80 or so years ago. This is what people obviously want right now and it’s what they are going to end up getting. We ALREADY have a dire situation in Russia and they are only what.. 10 years if maybe less into the plunge into autocracy. Yes the US has a more diverse and resilient economy but there’s no reason why we aren’t likely to see many of the same hardships if we go down the road obvious half of America is dying to go just because they are pissed of that they want “muh culture” back.
