It's so bizarre how democrats went from cutting military budget and stopping wars to now using the Republican playbook of the 70s-2010.
https://theweek.com/foreign-policy/1007579/biden-nearly-ended-the-drone-war-and-nobody-noticed Drone strikes are down by 90% under biden compared to trump and obama. Somehow nobody has noticed and he's gotten zero credit from the anti war folks. Biden ended the longest war and cut down on useless drone strikes and instead focused our attention to China. You can still be *anti war* and still be pro Military. Why in the world would we want to be reliant on China for microchips? 90% of the us military advanced chips from Taiwan. I don't want to be cucked to China forever.
Trump set up the plan and Biden executed the plan. This was a bi-partisan support. You know this. Stop being silly. Im a little curious why you are completely ignoring all the drone strikes in Ukraine. If you dont want to be cucked from China forever, then why was everyone so against Trump placing tariffs against China? Again, I am so confused. You still ignored my question - Why was it cool to talk about military budget cuts 20 years ago but now its so important to be pro military? Ive said in the past Trump did good work setting up the withdrawal and Biden did a good job of executing, regardless of the undeserved criticism Biden received from the Republicans and worse, Democrats. Ive also said the Trumps China tariffs were good, even when Democrats said it was a really bad idea. The dependency on China was blatantly obvious and unhealthy for this country. An extremely high military bill is necessary, not for global domination, but for our national economy. We need to start cutting back on big loud explosive weapons and focus on space, communication and tech. Now you have a whole political party wanting to see SpaceX fail.
you have been proven wrong. the biggest losers from the tariff war---not china---have been US farmers and US consumers
Trumps tariffs were never pared with any sort of industrial policy. He was a absolute fraud. His CFTC and SEC chairs were in favor of globalization and wanted china's business. Trump never succeeded in bringing back manufacturing. Why is musk opening a battery plant in Texas? Why is GM expanding production in Michigan? Bidens legislations FORCES companies to onshore to America if they want any subsidies. The reason we're seeing a huge boom in manufacturing is because the made in America provisions in the bill. If car manufacturers and other green energy business want any subsidies they need to onshore their entire supply chain to America. What did trump to help us national security? Did he pass a CHIPS bill to help onshore manufacturering of us chips? Putting tariffs doesn't do crap to address the core issue. Bidens chips act prohibits any investment in China and thus causing TSMC and others to rapidly expand here. Last month biden put the harshest export controls in modern history and blocked all advanced chips going to China. It's crippling China as we speak. Trump and biden have many of the same policies surprisingly. Trump was just all talk and didn't do crap to actually implement them. He was too lazy and partisan (trump refused to work with democrats in the house because of impeachment trial) . Biden is just the competent version of trump.
Trump is an incompetent president. I am not defending Trump. What I am stating is Trump had some good pieces of legislation/objectives that were good yet the democrats stonewalled it, just like the Republicans stonewall Democrats for the sake of being obstructionist. Trump was never bringing back manufacturing in significant numbers and it was ignorant to think so. Companies decide this. COVID exposed the fact china tariffs was not enough. Now the US government is paying companies to bring back manufacturing. We mostly agree outside of trying to keep score. Now if US companies can focus on building successful companies instead of getting in politics ... that would be great.
NM's GOP stood behind his candidacy for a state House seat, even tho he had 19 convictions, including burglary, larceny, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and receiving stolen property. He spent almost seven years in prison
Just to note Biden hasn't lifted the tariffs on the PRC and has gotten legislation passed specifically reducing out dependence on the PRC for supply chains.
What policies did democrats stonewall? Trump said he refused to talk to house democrats because they were investigating him. He had Z E R O interest in passing legislation... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...astructure-meeting-impeachment-mueller-report How exactly did democrats stonewall Trump when he made these ridiculous demands? He had no interest in governoring and was all culture wars. Biden on the other hand pinned an OP in the wall street journal this week asking for bipartisan tech reform to keep our kids safe and praises moderate Republicans.. https://www.wsj.com/articles/unite-...n-algorithm-11673439411?mod=opinion_lead_pos5 I've said this from the beginning but being a boring old president has major pros. Most people don't hate biden even on the right. They think he's feeble old but they don't hate him like the way dems hate trump. This is why dems won the midterms. Republicans crossed over .
More on Solomon Pena https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/17/us/solomon-pena-arrested-new-mexico-shootings/index.html Republican ex-state House candidate arrested for allegedly orchestrating shootings at homes of Democrats in New Mexico, police say A former Republican New Mexico House of Representatives candidate – who, police say, claimed election fraud after his defeat – was arrested by an Albuquerque SWAT team Monday in connection with a string of recent shootings at the homes of local Democratic elected leaders, city police said. Solomon Peña, who lost his 2022 run for state House District 14, is accused of paying and conspiring with four men to shoot at the homes of two state legislators and two county commissioners, Albuquerque Police said. CNN has reached out to Peña’s campaign website for comment and has been unable to identify his attorney. Peña will face charges related to four shootings: a December 4 incident at the home of Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa; a December 8 shooting at the home of state House Speaker Javier Martinez; a December 11 shooting at the home of then-Bernalillo Commissioner Debbie O’Malley; and a January 3 shooting at the home of state Sen. Linda Lopez, police said in a news release. “It is believed he is the mastermind” behind the shootings, Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said during a news conference. In the latest shooting, police found evidence “Peña himself went on this shooting and actually pulled the trigger on at least one of the firearms that was used,” Albuquerque Police Commander Kyle Hartsock said. However, an AR handgun he tried to use malfunctioned, the police statement said, adding more than a dozen rounds were fired by another shooter from a separate handgun. “Nobody was injured in the shootings, which resulted in damage to four homes,” an Albuquerque Police news release says. “Detectives no longer believe the shootings are connected to reports of shots fired near a campaign office of the Attorney General, nor the law office of a state senator.” Detectives served search warrants Monday at Peña’s apartment and the home of two men allegedly paid by Peña, police said in the statement, adding Peña did not speak with detectives. Officers arrested Peña on suspicion of “helping orchestrate and participate in these four shootings, either at his request or he conducted them personally, himself,” Hartsock added. Firearm evidence, surveillance video, cell phone and electronic records and witnesses in and around the conspiracy aided the investigation and helped officials connect five people to this conspiracy, Hartsock said. During the 2022 campaign, Peña’s opponent, Democratic state Rep. Miguel Garcia, sued to have Peña removed from the ballot, arguing Peña’s status as an ex-felon should prevent him from being able to run for public office in the state, CNN affiliate KOAT reported. Peña served nearly seven years in prison after a 2008 conviction for stealing a large volume of goods in a “smash and grab scheme,” the KOAT report said. “You can’t hide from your own history,” Peña told the outlet in September. “I had nothing more than a desire to improve my lot in life.” A district court judge ruled Peña was allowed to run in the election, according to KOAT. He lost his race to Garcia, 26% to 74%. After losing, Peña approached the senators and commissioners at their homes with paperwork claiming there was fraud involved in the elections, Albuquerque Police spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said. “What our investigation shows … after the election in November, Solomon Peña reached out and contracted someone for an amount of cash money to commit at least two of these shootings. The addresses of the shootings were communicated over phone,” Hartsock said Monday. “Within hours, in one case, the shooting took place at the lawmaker’s home.” The department is still investigating whether the people suspected of carrying out the shootings were “even aware of who these targets were or if they were just conducting shootings,” Hartsock added. Police last week announced they had a suspect in custody and had obtained a firearm connected to one of the shootings at homes of elected officials. A car driven at one of the shooting scenes was registered to Peña, the department said. “APD essentially discovered what we had all feared and what we had suspected – that these shootings were indeed politically motivated, and that has basically been confirmed by this investigation,” Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said during the news conference. “I also know that fundamentally, at the end of the day, this was about a right-wing radical, an election denier who was arrested today and someone who did the worst imaginable thing you can do when you have a political disagreement, which is turn that to violence. That should never be the case. Differences of fundamentals in democracy are going to happen. Disagreements take place. We know we don’t always agree with our elected officials, but that should never ever lead to violence,” Keller added. Former Bernalillo County Commissioner Debbie O’Malley, whose home was shot at, is pleased an arrest has been made, she said. “I am very relieved – and so is my family. I’m very appreciative of the work the police did,” O’Malley told CNN on Monday evening. O’Malley and her husband had been sleeping on December 11 when more than a dozen shots were fired at her home in Albuquerque, she said. Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa discovered the gunshots at her home after returning from Christmas shopping, she said. “It was terrifying. My house had four shots through the front door and windows, where just hours before my grandbaby and I were playing in the living room,” Barboa said in a statement. “Processing this attack continues to be incredibly heavy, especially knowing that other women and people of color elected officials, with children and grandbabies, were targeted.” State House Speaker Javier Martinez, whose home also was shot at, is grateful a suspect is in custody, he told CNN in a statement. “We have seen far too much political violence lately and all of these events are powerful reminders that stirring up fear, heightening tensions, and stoking hatred can have devastating consequences,” he said.
Lol. Whatever actions especially publicly traded companies do it's exactly to maximize return on investment. So whatever politics you perceive is because they want to maximize return on investment. That is the inherent nature of our economic system. You are screaming into the wind.
Anyone shooting at homes with people inside has to be charged with attempted murder in my book. Someone could have easily died.
