See that uniform he is wearing? He serves in the United States military. That, in itself, makes us brothers. Don't care where he is from, what color he is, who he voted for, or even who he prays too. He is still my brother, because he chose to put himself second, and his country first. For all I know, he has walked where I have walked, left sweat where I left sweat, and left drops of blood, where I did too..And that too, makes us brothers. From the time he raised his right hand, and signed on the dotted line, until time no longer exists, he will forever be my brother. Same with the women that served. They will forever be my sisters. They have my back, and I have theirs." The civilian friend stated, "wow, I never looked at it or even thought about it like that. That's awesome. T_Man
Brah what perfect little unit did you join when you hit the fleet lol? How many years have you served? By now you should have learned how many people join not out of some noble cause but because they didn't have other prospects, it paid well and or it scratched their narcissism itch by joining a profession they thought was "bad ass". You definitely should be a careerist if you aren't disillusioned and this moto still. I don't know, maybe line companies(infantry units) have significantly higher percentage of people who quickly become disillusioned. It's really hard to keep that moto spirit after 5 years in Infantry... Probably why the 03xx field has the lowest retention rate in terms of reenlistment in the Marine Corps.
So you are saying that whatever crimes service members commit, or however dishonorable they are to that oath that they have your brotherhood? Sorry, I don't concur. There are bad seeds in every occupation of life, and that includes people who sign the dotted line and take an oath they don't abide by.
I never ever ever met a perfect family..... There are bad seeds in every family... BUT They are still your family.... You understand that they made a mistake, went down a wrong path.. But you don't abandon them, you be there for them and try to help them.... NO matter if their your blood family or not.... T_Man
Merely someone enlisting doesn't make them humans worth praising or screaming about being their brother dude.
Ahh each and every time you keep changing the optics... I never ever said praise or scream.... You may not understand brotherhood... But I do.... Being in the Military and 2 Fraternities.... You may not understand the meaning of family.. But I do.. Seeing that I do have family members that made bad choices and they paid for that choice.. But unlike you I have not abandon them... That also goes for my fraternity and military brotha that also made a bad choice... You may be selective on who you consider to be your family and I respect that... Completely up to you... For me, doing what I did.. I considered all military my family... So when we got a call for a rescue I didn't say oh that guy is a racist or that is an a-hole or that guy is not Air Force, so i'm not going to rescue him.... They are my family and my job is too save them regardless... That is my output no matter how you see it... T_Man
I'm empathetic of other humans and their circumstances regardless of arbitrary lines in the sand like someone enlisting or not. Tje military is very large with immensely different experiences per individual depending on their job, branch, unit, leadership.
Cool I have my outlook and you have yours... I Respect your opinion and your outlook... I also Respect My Outlook... T_Man
But his own family can rot in jail if they commit a crime, no matter how trivial. Really weird set of ethics.
Dang you guys are interesting... My own family spent time in jail and upon they're release they were welcome back to the family with open arms... Please do understand the difference... My family members committed a crime and with that comes the punishment... But I never abandon them... So please get it right.... T_Man
No I understand what you are saying perfectly. If the government says your family member should do 9 years for smoking weed - Oorah. If the government tells you to kill people in another country - Oorah. Nice shot, brother. Don't smoke weed, brother.
R O F L M A O!!! Did the optics of everything jus change.... I have seen you same posters go head to head with other posters on this board about law and order... Especially about Trump... So it's ok to have law and order against other individuals as long as it's not your family??? So from what you guys are stating is if David whom I don't know steals or commits another crime and is caught and prosecuted.. sentenced to (x) number of years then good.. they got what they deserved.. But if my cousin who does the same thing commits the crime and is caught and prosecuted and sentenced to (x) number of years.. Now it's wrong.. The judge gave him too much time, it's his first offense or some other excuse.... My stance has been this and will continue to be this... It doesn't matter if David or my cousin committed the crime... Either has to do the time, I will not change my stance and be high almighty because they are family... Wrong is Wrong and they have to pay for the decision they made.... That doesn't mean I will hate them, not love them or disown them... I will be there to support them.. But they have to pay for what they have done.. Now as for as the government thing goes.. You left that wide open and very broad... Am I CIA, Military infantry, etc??? You sound like someone who has a political agenda against the government.. Have fun with that... I served my Country and I am proud of that... T_Man
Which posters you are referring to because the ones who don't like Trump disproportionately are the type of people who understand the fascist underpinnings of the term "law and order".
You missed the point. Your stance seems very linear and simplistic. Governments, people and institutions do both good and bad. I don't trust the government, a corporation, or a person to always do the right thing. Each action should be taken on a case by case basis. Treating someone as a brother just because he wears the same uniform or treating a crime a serious just because the government tells you to is naive.
As I stated above to someone... I respect your position and for me I am not saying anything to you to make you change your position.... Yes I was combat and not all members of the military are combat... But that doesn't mean other personnel are not my brothas.. Again, if one of brothas does something bad, he has to pay the consequences... Again the Same thing as my Blood/Biological brotha.. If he does something bad then he has to pay for it... Now if that sounds too Naive for you, then that again is your opinion... I have a lot of loyalty for those who served before me, with and after me... That is my stance.. Now your other things about the Government.. Not getting into that with you... T_Man
Remember all those losers and MAGA who were whinning about biden releasing oil from the SPR. Looks like they're about to close on 70 million free barrels of oil from their oil trade. The government taking an initiative and making a profit to help ease the cost of goods for every day Americans. Obviously big oil is pissed but eff em. Maga are dumb as hell is the bottom line.
I'm not sure I'd call it a pattern, but I see how the graphic confounds the budget deficit and the national debt. Deficit is a cashflow statement metric while the debt is a balance sheet metric. Sure sure, Republican presidents have run larger deficits than democratic presidents have during my lifetime, and thereby have added more to the national debt. But please keep the accounting straight.
