    Some very talented high school basketball players don't have the grades to make it into college.

    Toast, If they are good enough to be NBA players, and graduated from high school, any big basketball school would take him.

    The problem is that basketball takes so much time, along with classwork, that they don't have enough time to work. So some are left without money, while an NBA contract will give them a HUGE paycheck.

    how can getting an education help a player get better at their job? Unless you want to admit that college ball is just an extension of pro-ball, and they should already be considered pros, then I just don't understand that argument.

    Doctors need to go to school because they are handling peoples lives. Other people go to school because they need to learn skills to do the jobs of their choice. Last I heard, there is no advanced degrees in ball, the job of their choice, so why force them to go play ball and earn lots of bucks for universities when they can earn it for themselves now?
