This is directed at the Texas Democratic party

Texas Democrats are looking a lot like the Detroit Lions. The record of Texas Democrats over the last twenty years is very Lions like. Beto is like Jared Goff, he looks good, has a strong arm but he's not the guy you want to build a team around. It's also not like they are facing Mahomes like competition but are running against corrupt, indicted and outright hated people (who even other Republicans hate).

To continue the metaphor I get it that it's hard to build a culture of winning and there have been plenty of years when the Lions looked good and could even win the NFC North yet they alwasy find a way to lose it. That is what the Texas Democrats look like to me. They just find ways to lose instead of win.

For Democrats in Texas especially anyone here who might be involved in the party. What will it take to beat Abbott, Paxton and Cruz? As I've brought up a few times even KY and KS were able to get rid of weak and corrupt GOP governers. Even AL elected a Democrat over a weird guy who had a thing for teenage girls. Yet somehow Texas Democrats can't even defeat an indicted adulterer.

I haven't seen polling data but it wouldn't surprise me if there actually isn't much of a difference between the numbers of Democrats and Republicans in Texas.

Also as noted KY, KS and AL have bigger disparities between Democrats and Republicans yet still elected Democrats to statewide office recently.

Keep an eye on Collin Allred. I think he's a real threat to Cruz...possibly more than Beto was in 2018. Won a House seat, beating long time rep Pete Sessions in 2018, in a suburban district and re-elected twice since.

"The major Iowa newspaper that published a political cartoon depicting MAGA voters yelling racial slurs at Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy issued a formal apology..."
    by noreply@blogger.com (Ann Althouse)
    June 26, 2023

"... over the weekend after the GOP hopeful slammed the depiction as 'shameful.' The Quad-City Times executive editor Tom Martin wrote on the paper’s website Friday that the 'inexcusable' cartoon was intended to 'criticize racist ideas and epithets' but instead featured a phrase that 'is racist and insensitive to members of our Indian American community.'... [The cartoon] depicted a campaign rally... Ramaswamy was drawn, saying, 'Hello my MAGA friends!' Three angry White men in the crowd each responded to his appearance with a racial slur. One screamed, 'Muslim!' getting the candidate’s religion wrong. Ramaswamy is a self-professed Hindu. Another [yelled]... 'Get me a slushee, Apu!!!' and a third [yelled]... 'Show us your birth certificate!!'"

    The NY Post reports.

Before the apology came out, Ramaswamy tweeted: "It’s sad that this is how the MSM views Republicans. I’ve met with grassroots conservatives across America & never *once* experienced the kind of bigotry that I regularly see from the Left. Iowa’s ⁦ @qctimes ⁩ absolutely has the right to print this, but it’s still shameful."

Let me connect this post to the previous one, about the chant at the Drag March — "We’re here! We’re queer! We’re coming for your children!" Somebody thinks they're being very funny and they're cocooned with people who like the direction the satire is going.

    Bidenomics has just begun

what does a middle out / bottom up economy looks like ?

the impressive job creation was the outgrowth of these Bidenomic policies
    Inflation Reduction Act
    Chips Act
    Infrastructure Act

what is the opposite of Bidenomics ?

that would be the economic results under the Trump presidency, the only one to have lost job, negative job creaton.
    under the Trump presidency, it was infrastructure week every week;
but nothing got done even with a GOP-controlled Congress.

    Can Democrats Sell ‘Bidenomics’?

The substance is there. But the sales apparatus isn’t yet.

In view of the trends, and the broadly positive macroeconomic indicators, it is rather mysterious why Biden gets such atrocious marks on the economy. According to a recent AP-NORC poll, only 34 percent of adults approve of his economic record, and just 30 percent rate the economy as good.

This divergence is largely due to propaganda and vibes.

Most ordinary voters appear to be doing reasonably well in their own personal finances. Witness the consumer confidence index, which recently hit the highest level since January 2022, before the major inflation surge. But then they turn on the news each night and hear dire stories about inflation, supply chain difficulties, housing prices, interest rates, and so on, with little or no consistent pushback from Democrats.

Democrats don’t have anything remotely like the right-wing media apparatus. Their typical approach is to try to get positive mainstream media coverage, and then complain when they don’t get it. Now, I’m no Rupert Murdoch.

It'd behooves the Democrats and the White House to set up a messaging system that delivers a positive view not just of Biden and the economy of today, but the values of the Democratic Party as a whole—and does so consistently, not just during campaign season.

Otherwise Biden’s very real accomplishments will be drowned out by the foghorn blast of conservative shouting.

Was watching Katty Kay, BBC World News America anchor, who was providing observations about the Dems from across the pond.

    The problem with Dems, historically, has been that they fight w one hand, the open hand;
no better eg than Obama, post the passage of ObamaCare

the Trump presidency has been a wake up call.

post his farcial presidency, the are indications that Dems are fighting w more than just the open hand.
    • Gov Good Hair giving the Repugs the business
      • laying down the facts that the genesis of the inflation has been the supply chain bottlenecks, the result of Trump's ill-conceived / ineffective trade war
      • blasting red states for their Covid-19 response and conservative policies
      • ripping the Supreme Court for letting Texans privately sue abortion providers
      • telling Gov "wheelie" to “Go back to your audits of Wayne LaPierre’s (of the NRA) receipts.”
      • challenging the fake tough guy, Diet Trump, for debate
      • destroying the convenient / baseless spin that job creations under Biden are merely "refills" of jobs loss during the Pandemic
        • the great resignation, of ~ 50 million, led to worker shortages in services / construction industries,
        • bidens's economic stimuli afforded workers the time/resouces to look for better paying jobs
    • Gov Tony Evers using his veto power to gurantee funding increases for Wi school for the next 400 yrs
    • Biden
      • implementing bidenomics successfully
        • emarking on a campaign to provide vivid eg of bidenomics
      • schooling McCarthy in the Debt Ceiling negotiation
