It's not in the Constitution. Cutting edge health care is not a basic human right. Heart transplants and blocks of cheese are not the same thing. But both federal programs should not exist.

You really have to shake your head at that Ron Paul piece.
    Which decades were those, 1900-1930?

Who knows, this may even be true, but since whenever that was single payer government run systems have far surpassed all of the previous ones in performance and popularity.

What alternate reality is this guy living in? The term “socialized medicine” is the giveaway that this is just political rhetoric, however, and it’s clearly not supposed to make sense. And it surely doesn’t.

Most are now shaking our heads now at our sick out of control government spending and intrusion. This is a part of how it all started. It never should have.

People like you make me ashamed for our country. You are why people from all over the world shake their heads in disgust.

When others are in need, we, the people, should help them. It doesn't matter what a persons situation is, everyone deserves to see a doctor when they are sick. Everyone deserves something to eat and clean water to drink. You are a heartless fool and I pity you.

I fall under the category as someone that will see their taxes increased under the new plans. I have no problems making the sacrifice to make sure others are taken care of. Does it bother me that there are some people that may get something that they may not deserve? Yeah, it's annoying. But then I think of the people that truly need help and I don't care. There are always going to be people that take advantage of any system. That doesn't mean that we should stop trying to help the people that don't.

And it bothers me that people like you want the government to inflate health care costs and make it unaffordable unless the government pays for it. It is just about sinful. My heart lies in freedom, not socialism. That's why we are in this mess in the first place.

You have a ton of anti-american BS posting on the board. Why don't you just move to the Euro-trash nations you love so much?

How funny that our free market health care system cost twice as much as nationalized health care systems yet we get much worse care.

Your heart lies in freedom? You sound like a Team America song. Then you go and compare freedom to socialism. You obviously don't even know what socialism is because you can't even compare the two, it doesn't make sense.

I love America. I voluntarily served in the United States Navy because of how much I love the US. That doesn't mean I'm going to wear rose colored glasses and say everything is great when it is not. If that is what you want to do, be my guest.

It's funny you mention moving to Europe. My work\residency visa for Sweden was approved this morning.

so your idea of fixing the medical system is putting the government in charge of it? name me one program that the governmetn has the actually improves the quality of peoples lives better the freedom and capitolism?

People don't have the "rigth" to anything. This whole notion of entitlements is absurd. People have the right to choose something but under the changes you people are proposing that "choice" would be removed. The numbers the communist democrats throw out are skewed and typically include; children, people who choose not to purchase insurance, illegal immigrants and the list goes on.

What they don't tell you is that most of the countries who have nationalized health care are going bankrupt and would sell their left leg if they could abandon the system without an uproar from the nanny staters who have grown accustom to it.

I will tell you what, if you want the government to run YOUR healthcare then YOU can pay them to do so and live with the consequences. People like me who like the freedome to choose my own will not participate or pay for your doomed social programs.

Why is it that anytime one complains about the US around here, eventually someone demands he/she either "take it or leave it"?

I'm not sure if that is sad, ironic, bizarre or what. It's really weird.

I find it even more ironic that the USA has been the gold standard of the world for over a century and now all of a suddden we need to be more like the "rest of the world".....why doesn't the rest of the world be more like us?
Oh wait because they don't have freedom because they willingly gave it away to their governments.

Read the thread genius, the answer is because they pay half as much for their health care and get more services back in return.

why is it that one d-bag makes him ashamed of his whole country which he supposedly loves.

Timothy McVeigh didn't make me ashamed to be an american. It made me proud when we didn't just shoot him on site, but gave him a fair trial and then executed him.

Because there are many douchebags that think just like the douchebag that posted. There is a reason why we (Americans) are stereotyped.

Well, I'd like to think that America is not full of douchebags, but that's just me.
