agreed... why does everyone assume that tmac is our best player? he is def. good... but im thinking yao might be more valuable to the franchise- not just because of the free shoes
t-mac starts to get into the injured mode ... mike james starts to sit on the bench ... SF3 continues to sit on the bench ... deke starts to finally get old ... solution: trade all above, we can solve our problems at 1 and 4.
Toronto is actually pretty good. #7 in Hollinger's Rankings (we're 11 currently) and just came off a 10pt win at San Antonio. They beat us in our last meeting too. People forget about Bosh since KG and Dwight Howard have stolen all the PF thunder in the East, but Toronto should be a top four seed in the East and make it to the second round of the playoffs without problems. Tonight we really defended him well--credit Hayes and Scola, the latter especially having stepped up his D of late.
I'm not a Believer yet. I'm as happy as anyone after that win in Toronto, but I'm not going to "believe" that our team is legit unless we can beat GS and then at least put up a fight with Boston. GS will be very difficult, especially with them denying Yao the ball and forcing him to defend out to the 3 pt line, but the key to that game avoiding bad shots/turnovers. From what I've seen from past GS/Phoenix/Toronto/fast-paced teams games vs the Rockets, the Rockets often get frustrated and start chucking and trying to force it. That will result in turnovers, which result in fast-break points, which results in more chucking/forcing the action. To beat GS, we need to keep doing what we're doing: passing, team D, and keeping our poise. The third is especially important. Yao needs to dominate Harrington/Biedrins anytime he catches the ball down low. We cant have him bricking turnaround fadeaways when he has such a mismatch. Easier said than done, but we'll see. Rockets, prove me wrong
you predicted we woudl win 60 this year, just like you do every year. You are the last person in the world who should be busting a nut over a .500 record.
No kidding. When did Toronto become mediocre? That's a very good team and one that has given the Rockets fits the last few years. Even Memphis has been a tough beat for the Rockets. Just for the sake of argument, let's label both teams mediocre. The Rockets still won and won them going away. After a season so far of looking pathetic againt bad teams, why not feel a lot better as a fan tonight? It's not hard to see that the offense is starting to really come together. If TMac comes back and fits/adapts to what they are doing well out there, things are really looking up.
Kind of attitude we don't need around here. (or in every single thread). aaaaaaand I'm not worried about Boston, but I did kind of overlook Golden State... Hehe
Yep, I did predict 60 wins, I think the team is really talented, but I did not see that they would struggle so much or that Tmac would not embrace the new system right away. But, now they are...they could still be very successful this year, no one in the West is running away...one strong push and we are RIGHT back in it. DD
maybe because when yao has been out, t-mac has still been able to carry the team to wins. when t-mac has been out, the team is like 13-42 or something.
livin' in my own world didn't understand, that anything could happen when you take a chance I never believed in, what I couldn't see i never opened my heart oohhh to all the possibilities oooooooo i know that something has changed never felt this way and right here tonight, This could be the... Start of something new it feels so right to be here with you and now im lookin' in your eyes i feel in my heart The Start of Something New oohh, yeah now who would ever thought we'd both be here tonight the world looks so much brighter (brighter, brighter) with you by my side You really had to title this thread Start of Something (new)? I didn't see all of the game, but we scored 90 plus points, which is actually pretty good for us. Shane is fine, long as he is hitting his corner shots. I'm excited about Brooks. I'm not crazy about giving him a lot of money. I doubt he will hit a serious rookie wall because he didn't really play the first two months of the season. As the season progresses, I hope his minutes increase, and Rafer's decrease.
Based on what? Both are rookies. Brooks has only his college career to base anything on and has an unknown ceiling. Being short does not rule out a heck of an NBA career. See Murphy, Calvin... or that Iverson fellow. Scola was arguably the best player in Europe for years and is adjusting to the NBA. Whatever point you were attempting to make (are you Miss Cleo??) is totally blown by, "he looks more like Chuck Hayes with a jump shot (and low post / up and under moves." They couldn't be more dissimilar as players. Hayes is a terrific defensive player for an undersized 4, much, much better than Scola. Scola is huge compared to Hayes, easily 6'10', with long arms, has an excellent offensive game, as well as being a beast on the offensive glass. Chuck has no offense, except for the odd junk point here and there, and is a horrible free throw shooter. Hell, we could have a good thread just comparing the differences between the two, and have probably had a few already. Geez.
Since settling on the current 9 man rotation(with the other 8 playing more minutes to compensate when T-Mac is out)and a rededication to the Adelman offense the Rockets are 3-2 with a double OT loss at Denver and a loss in a ticked off Pistons' house. 4 of those 5 were on the road. The Rockets have had at least 5 players in double figures each game. The Rockets are averaging 100.6 ppg while allowing 93.2 ppg. So yeah, its starting to turn around a bit. Ball movement and movement without the ball is alot better. Lots more dunks and close range stuff for Bonzi, Yao, Scola, and even the guards.
The Nuggets game. THAT was the turning point, IMO. Even though the Rockets lost, there was something about the way they played and competed that night that made you think -- finally the Rockets team we've been looking for has arrived. It seems that Adelman has finally conquered the challenge of keeping the Rockets' offensive flow going when T-Mac is not on the floor. All that's left right now is for McGrady to come back and get integrated into the offense without having any dropoff in production from the role players, and we should be set for a great 2nd half run -- hopefully this team should be firing on all cylinders by the All Star break.
hahah....the first thing that came into my head was the high school musical song when i saw the title...LOL I dont think its the start of something new....it's simply a start of developing the rookies with minutes. By the way.....I actually like that song.............................................there I said it
Said U wanna be startin somethin U GOT to be startin somethin Love the chance to reference the King of Pop.
