The problem: 2 low post players + Tony "not a very good 3 point shooter" parker.

By signing Lamarcus, they saddle themselves to a dying formula for winning basketball games: 2 points at a time.

    They replaced splitter with Aldridge.

Every team carries a PF and C

I don't really see the problem

aldridge can hit his fair set of 3s...we would know...

and have you see danny green? he's an elite 3 pt shooter now. plus duncan doesn't play THAT many min.

    no problem

Parker will go down in history as being one of the toughest PnR players to guard ever. And Duncan/LMA are really great at it, too.

What are you trying to say, exactly?

Isn't that exactly what Memphis did? Except San Antonio actually has 3-point shooters?

I think what is saying that if you don't have a stretch four starting, you suck

pnr is all well and good until they clog the paint on you.

But the biggest problem is that when you lead dog is a pf that requires a set up with pnr, it kills ball movement, which is what the spurs have been hanging their hat on for years.

It isn't natural to add a player like aldridge to any offense and make it work. The difference with the grizzlies is that Marc Gasol is one of the best passing big men the league has seen.

And even still, the grizzlies have a hard time with it.

No, he doesn't suck. He's great. But he's be a lot better without Tim Duncan and it'd be easier for the spurs to build an offense around him.

As great as pop is, I don't see pop being able to make tim and aldridge work well together in that offense on that team.

    I'm still not following.

Aldridge would be better with other centers?

He'd be better being the only low post player on the floor, surrounded by player players.

Timmy presents a lot of problems for aldridge to think about when he's on the floor, spacing wise, shot wise and otherwise.

If timmy is high, he has to be low. When he was in portland he didn't have any of that to worry about.

When I know it is early, one way to prove this theory of mine is to watch the Spurs 3 point makes this season. The last 2 years in a row they were sitting at 12th with 8.5 makes a game. This year currently they are 22nd with 7 makes a game.

They've (Green, Pop, Tony) already said in practice/ post game interviews they're not trying to make as many threes as years past. Coach Pop has a plan.

Spurs will be fine . LMA is a top tier defender. They'll score enough and win with defense.

Neither LMA nor Duncan play primarily in the post. Both can spread the floor a bit with LMA having 3pt range.

He doesn't exactly fit like a glove there but I can already see signs of him adapting.

Probably Tim's last year. The Spurs will be fine.
