i think they have characters on the show say things like that to make them seem ignorant. its like a little reminder that even though these guys are rich criminals they're still criminals. its like in the last season when tony and carmella went to eat with meadow's friends, and tony asked the guy if he was gay and carmella was arguing that the book didn't have a gay theme to it. its actually kind of funny. about carmella and p***y's widow, remember in the third season carmella saw her working in the grocery store and now she's buying expensive cars. carmella has been at a standstill. she got the money to build the house from tony remember, so he could get back in the house and avoid divorce and she even screwed that up. an ongoing theme since the beginning is carmella's feelings of bening uselessness.
like he said in the one of the first episodes (if not the first episode) - there's only two ways for this to end, in jail or dead - it's a signal they're closing in on him.
here's my prediction if this is the last season, carmella's going to get tired of being tony's doormat, and she rats him out. she's having dreams about adrianna, she's looking at how her friend has moved on with her life, and I believe they are setting up tony to have another affair.
Carmella's sad clown act is getting tired. She wants to be accepted by the uppity crowd and have her socialite parties, but is burdened by Tony's affairs and mob ties. The hypocrite hates the evil that is Tony but loves his money. When she has an attack on her moral conscience and gets all righteous, she's just a guilty and does nothing about it.
They are doing a full season this year. And then sometime next year, they are doing a mini-season with 8 episodes to finish off the series. If I'm not mistaken, they're already filming now for the final mini-season, so it's not going to take a 21 month wait for the last year.
I wouldn't be surprised if HBO kept it on the shelf for a while - string out the monthly subscribers a bit.
do like I did hbo had a special on time warner for when the sopranos came back 6 months at 5 dollars a month once the season is over shut it off again
i have probably seen five or six episodes of the sopranos, so please don´t kill me for asking this, but: is ralphie still on the show? i kinda liked this character
First show of the new season was awesome! Uncle Junior is definitely on the Alzheimer's ferris wheel. How long can he last? Tony gets shot and will be laid up for a while. This will cause a power struggle. Carmela is playing nice with Tony but has something up her sleeve. Vito is looking stronger, and will be part of the power struggle. I'll bet Bobby Baccalieri blows up nuts later in the season, because Janice drives every man she's with absolutely nuts. Phil Leotardo will get whacked sometime this season. Johnny Sack's trial will be crazy.
the sushi thing was interesting - the last big obsession with fish on the show that I remember was the whole talking fish thing right before/after they got rid of big p***y.
Also, you know what Tony (and the rest of the guys) refer to "eating sushi" as... Just ask Uncle Jun.
The rope coils around his neck but is also attached to a harness he is wearing. The harness actually supports his weight. It's sort of like a rock-climbing rig. Didn't you see Heathers?!
Here's my big prediction and parrallel: Christopher is to Sonny Corleone as AJ is to Michael Corleone. Think about it. Like Sonny from the Godfather, Christopher has been in on the family business from the get-go. He's hot-headed. And when he gets power, he's going to do something stupid. Now take AJ. There are some superficial differences: Michael is cool-headed and innocent, AJ is a punk. But the big thing is the same: Michael and AJ are both the beloved youngest son, the son that the mob-boss (both Brando and Tony) don't want in the business. In The Godfather, Michael morphs from All-American war hero to corrupt head of the family. AJ will follow a similar path. Watch. In fact, I predict that this season, AJ will spill blood. (similar to Michael's Italian restaurant shooting.) When the series ends, AJ will seize control of the family. By the way, I've never read a single Sopranos spoiler in my life, just idle speculation...
AJ is Michael Corleone minus the brains, ambition, and toughness (and since when has AJ ever been beloved). If the Sopranos makes AJ a mafia boss, I'll throw up.
