This episode was kind of a transitional one, but it provides clues as to what is about to happen. Johnny Sack.....pleading guilty and confessing was huge. The Government is obviously trying to send him to the poorhouse, and Tony helped by getting him to sell Janice his house for half of what it is worth. This makes me believe that he will rat out Tony and that is how the series will end. Vito....yes he's going back to New Jersey, but will he make it? Smashing into a car and shooting its owner? Something tells me that he just might whack himself before he ever sees anyone from the crew. Bobby....he's not the tough guy he pretends to be, getting mugged by the group of teenagers. He is vulnerable, very vulnerable. And Carmella continuing to nose into Tony's business...this is not good.
What's to write about? Nothing happened. Bobby got beat down by some punks, "Do you know who I am?", Johnny Sac taking a deal with an allocution..no omerta, Tony wouldn't even rough up the building inspector, Bobby having to change Junior's diapers, all references to the mob's growing impotence. Was the whole New Orleans scene just to set up the house thing or just a dig at FEMA? Sort of a waste. Tony resolved that his anger toward Janice was over teenage abandonment issues....so he buys her a house. The girls care so much for Ginny, then Janice takes he house I didn't get anything out of the Tony/Meadow scene I just didn't see anything that wasn't already said last week.
"Alright, the day is almost half over. Don't look. It's probably 11:30 and soon I'll be eating that delicious sandwich. Don't look." Looks and it's 9:50. "FARK!!!"
tony didn't resolve his anger with janice, he clearly wasn't happy when she was crying tears of joy. I don't agree that it was a hohum episode. johnny sacks accepting a deal from the gov't, that's huge. I think one of the underlying themes leading to the finale is the downfall of the mafia.
I am in total 100% agreement with you. The final episode will feature Tony, and perhaps Silvio, sharing a cell together for the rest of their lives. If anybody gets whacked, it will be someone like Christofuh, and he will probably whack himself by overdosing.
This weeks episode was ok at best, Big Love on the other hand knocked it out of the park this week, can't wait for Deadwood to start back up. HBO kicks so much ass.
Fantastic episode, and about time. I guess that's the last we see of Johnny Sack, unless his wife kills herself and we see a funeral from Carmella's POV (no way any mob guys go). I guess we could see a little scene where he gets whacked in prison for pleading guilty. The whole sequence with Vito just shows how he can't stop living the life of a wiseguy. He has the ideal life going on in NH and can't deal with it. Him killing the guy on the side of the road just puts the finishing touches on it. Vito's two biggest opponents to coming back were Paulie and Phil Leotardo. Paulie is obviously preoccupied and may have a change of heart when Vito shows up. The big stumbling block to Vito coming back is Phil...especially if Phil becomes boss now. He's out for blood for 'family honor' sake. The whole Meadow/Finn thing has always been a waste of screen time, but I can see it panning out with Meadow running to a wiseguy who is just like her dad if Finn dumps her. The whole scene where Bobby almost gets killed was a little scary. I'd like to see those kids get what's coming to them, but I doubt Bobby will ever do anything. Tony is right- he is weak. Good stuff. Too bad it's almost over.
that was awesome. hbo is so good at details on their originals. that really tells you right there that him going straight ain't happening.
So did you blood-n-guts seekers get enough today. Ya'll think AJ surfs the BBS? F*cking greedy HBO is waiting for the first week of June to show the last episode thus preventing any cancelations sunday night. The nerve of them.
Best episode of the season last night, IMHO. Things are starting to line up. Vito....adios homey. What a way to go, and with your Father in Law watching. The revenge killing.....when Silvio was getting a piggy back ride from the guy they are trying to kill.....hilarious! Plays into the whole "death of the mob" thing....Silvio is so weak he can't even whack anyone anymore. Don't forget....the last successful killing he did on his own was a woman Speaking of which....the cameo by Adriana in Carmela's dream was cool. The whole trip to Paris was a good touch...even Carmela needs a break. I seriously thought Tony was having a heart attack instead of getting a BJ from the dancer! Tony reading the riot act to AJ....about damn time! Meadow moving out to LA means her and Finn will get married...and she's running away...doesn't want to be associated with her own mobbed-up family.
I like rosalie. she has no hang-ups about haven been married to a mafia boss. she knows what happened to her son.
Good episode this week... I was kinda of surprised that Tony took having the hammer laid down on him from the shrink like he did when he was called out for being a hypocrite ..
Good episode this week, although the Paris thing was dumb, but it allowed Tony to be himself again, so cool... Meadow gone, AJ working (funny about his car) and Vito is outta here...Back to the basics episode, which is good because I saw Goodfellas Saturday night...classic... WTF is up with the last episode of the year and eight episodes left? Did I miss something?
Two weeks from now is the season finale for this year and next seasons (8) episodes are the lasts ones ever (Series finale)
I know I sound dumb but part of me was sad T messed around with that dancer. I had it in my mind he wan't going to do that stuff anymore. Man Meadow's part in the show seems smaller and smaller every day. I really thought Tony was going to punch AJ yesterday when he was rolling his eyes at T. That boy needs a good beat down. Is Phil Vito's cousin by marriage or father in law? I think he is a bit young to be that guy's father in law. But I may be wrong. How can they not address Paulie or Christopher in any way in this episode. Paulie has cancer and Chris is off the wagon again.
beware of Phil's wife! Carmela, did you forget how close Italy is to Paris? I was furious she didn't stop over!
Brother in Law if i remember correctly. He made a comment at his sisters house about how he loved Vito like a brother in law.
