I will say that I think the Artest experiment just isnt working and he does need to seriously get shopped, but..... Magette has caught some bad press lately on only playing solo offense, no team ball, and zero defense. I remember Shaq calling him out recently, and Jamal Crawford (teammate) did the same thing the other night. I think Maggette is just a one dimensional player that will never be the guy to get you over the hump. Sorry, but if he was our only option, Id rather just stick with Artest. Maggette = Same problems if not worse.
My solution is keeping Artest. With more games play,he will find his role in the team finally and bring us to a higher level, then we'll felicitate that we didn't trade him for Magette.
Andre Miller would be interesting. Mike Miller is starting to play good again. No to Maggette. Hinrich is slightly over paid for his production. Not sure what else is out there available that would fit our needs.
Whats up with all the broken English in this thread? Most of the stuff you guys are saying doesnt even really make since. Geesh!
I think its the combination or Ron and Tracy that doesnt fit. One of them has to go and I think its Ron. I would keep Tracy because he knows the system better than Ron and Tracy shows up in the playoffs. I would try to pick up Mike Miller some how in a trade . When you have 2 players like Tracy and Ron who call for the ball so much, it gives the true scores (Yao and Scola) no chance to control the game.
we just need a decent sized point guard that has the ability to create shots, knock down a open 3, and keep other point guards out of the paint
The Big 3 havn't worked out the way we all envisioned it to. Artest is clearly not 100%, but even healthy, I don't know if he would fit offensively. Defensively, he gives us great effort, and if anything, he'll get into the heads of guys like Kobe, Pierce, Lebron, etc. With Battier struggling the way he is, I don't know if I could trade Artest. Unless it is a great deal, then I wouldn't do it. Only for defensive purposes. IF he can ever get healthy, then he will be valuable to us in the playoffs, but that remains to be seen. I say we keep him, unless we get a great deal, or a guy who can play defense as well (Marion), or a point guard (Andre Miller). I know he isn't a great fit offensively, but against a physical team like Utah, or a team with small guards like the Spurs, Artest can be a huge advantage against those defenses.
On my way into work, even 610 said that Artest is probably the Rockets biggest trading chip as the deadline comes closer, and they predicted the Rockets would trade him. Clutch, said the same thing not long ago. I see some of the writing on the wall (and box score).
Hi... LONG time lurker/reader...first time poster. Had to take the plunge...and will use my first post to speak publicly what i was screaming at my tv last night, here on the front range of the Rockies in Colorado (I moved here 2 years ago and I am continually persecuted by Nuggets fans): ahem... (to Ron Artest) PASS THE BALL!
Like I posted the game before, sometimes you can just tell when Ron is going to shoot it and will have no intention in passing it.
