That damn police chief pisses me off at times. He never wants to answer questions or give out any info to the public. Don't we have a right to know? It's sad to think that this guy could just stop shooting people and nobody would ever know who he was
Because he's doing his job? The media is who pisses me off. This situation should be on a need to know basis and we don't need to know right now. Try to put yourself in his shoes. I think he's handled himself very well. Just my Opinion.
Speaking as an anti-bushie, I'm in favor of this: Glendening Eyes Safety of Polling Places Md. Governor Mulls Calling Out National Guard for Election Day By Lori Montgomery Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, October 23, 2002; 12:45 PM Maryland Gov. Parris N. Glendening this morning called the extended state of fear caused by the serial sniper "an outrageous and painful situation," and said he is considering calling out the National Guard to protect polling places if the sniper is still at large on Election Day, now less than two weeks away. Glendening said Virginia Gov. Mark Warner and D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams may want to consider similar measures. "A coordinated similar effort in all three jurisdictions would send a strong message that Election Day will not be disrupted and people will not be discouraged from voting because of this terrible situation," Glendening said during an hour-long interview on WTOP radio. Glendening said he has received one letter urging him to cancel the election. Numerous callers to WTOP demanded anxiously during the show that if the governor is going to call out the National Guard, he should send those troops to the state's public schools rather than to polling places. Glendening said such a move would cause more alarm than comfort, adding that he does not want to make public schools look like "Third-World" armed camps. Later at a press briefing in Rockville, Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan said that Glendening had raised the prospect of using the National Guard to protect voters on Nov. 5 in a conversation earlier this week with him and Prince George's County Executive Wayne Curry. Duncan said calling out the guard for Election Day is still only an option and that he expects a decision by the governor by the end of the week. But Duncan added, "We're hopeful that we'll have an arrest before Election Day."
Oops, Simpsons rerun took precedent. I don't think it's happened yet. EDIT: Still says that the press conference will be held soon.
Just heard the van was carrying a man on his way to a bar-be-que. He must have been flinging the spatula around on the way or something. Oh darn.
Man...CNN, which said what I just said a few minutes ago, is now saying that the van where a guy supposedly was aiming a gun toward a bus and the driver saw him is nowhere to be found. I don't know what to believe any more. F*cking crazy. Get me out of here.
According to CNN TV which I was just watching, there will no longer be a press conference either...I wonder what that could mean.
There is something going on in Tacoma Washington, apparently sniper related. The FBI is searching some property with metal detectors.
I agree oomp. We don't need to know everything the police know, because if the cheif tells us, he tips his hand to the sniper. The sniper's not going to be telling everyone he knows/is doing, and in my opinion neither should the police.
Profiling is okay when we all know deep down that the guy is white . Now that we suspect he's French, we can assume he's an atheist that smokes too much. He really shouldn't be too difficult to find. You find the trail of cigarettes leading away from the crime scenes... and you'll find the sniper.
They're looking for a man named John Allen Mohammad (pictured). From CNN:
Police: Arrest warrant issued for man who may have info in sniper case
Man identified as John Allen Mohammad, 42; charge is firearms violation
Police issue new message to sniper, again asking for new contact
Authorities search the back yard of Tacoma, Washington, home
news report in seattle says they are unable to awnser any questions. fbi will do that. seattle and tacoma are safe for now.
The stolen credit card that the sniper wanted money transfered to was traced to a store robbery in Alabama where someone was shot.I think they said killed..not sure.
