nice post. i really don't know about the god stuff and have problems with a lot of theological ideas but the kid found a way to handle his grief. thats a good thing.
I think it's more about other people making videos on youtube with emotional music about it and turning it into a huge thing than the actual story. People are having their pets put down everyday. Even more importantly, I'm sure as I'm typing this, more than one person is being taken off of life support in some hospital. But I guess since they're not calling into christian radio stations and comparing it to the sacrifice of Jesus, they aren't important or touching. Plus I never like it when people claim they spoke to God and spoke back. Yes, calling people Evil and miserable is level-headed and even-handed.
Of course you don't like it. It is because you won't open yourself to the idea that it is even remotely possible. Just because it has never happened to you, doesn't mean it isn't possible. You don't have all the answers, nor do I.
Why is it that in every thread with a religious discussion, the believers always end up making accusations of closed-mindedness? Nobody is saying that it's impossible for God to talk to people (at least I'm not saying that). However, it is EXTREMELY unlikely, given the absolute lack of evidence of the phenomenon. It also makes God seem like a dick when he speaks to a teenager to help him cope with a dead cow and not to, say, a soldier in Iraq who just watched his buddy get blown up by an IED.
People can submit their stuff to YouTube; where the rubber meets the road is how often it is viewed. And don't forget, this kid had to put down his own "pet." The comparison is to God's sacrifice in "putting down" his own son... I was really referring to the conclusion of his post; I doubt anybody here really thinks anyone is evil.
