I agree. This season and last I was more into dutch boy and his slack-off partner's plot lines than the zaniness of the Strike Team - but that all changed last night.
Spoiler Ronnie maybe .. . . but I dunno about Vice .. . looking at what I see now . .. I think Vic may wiggle some immunity out of his connection with the FEDS. Rocket River
Watching this episode I was looking at the TV as intently as all the cops looking at the monitor Got my heart racing thinking. .. nnaa they not going to . .they wouldn't. . OH ***** They did . .. Rocket River The guy playing Shane did a great job last nite
i feel sorry for tv fans who have somehow missed out on this show. without a doubt the best show in tv history. to those saying it hit a lull at the beginning of the season, i agree only to the extent that we had such a ridiculously long wait from last season to this, you'd think they would have brought some heat right off the bat this season, but you need to view this show as one long movie/story from episode 1 to the final episode this season. everything in this show happens for a reason (moreso than any other show i've ever seen by a mile), and everything in those first several episodes this season were necessary to get us to this point. this show is pure riveting, heart-stopping brilliance.
+1 All the setup from the earlier episodes was necessary in order to reach last night's tipping point.
Necessary...yeah, I guess so. Parts of the first few episodes were so stupid and ridiculous "24" type stuff...it was getting old fast. I just wish they would have done it better, but it's still better than most shows out there. To me, The Shield ranks in terms of reality somewhere in between The Wire and 24. When it leans too much towards 24, (unbelievable saves in bad situations, obvious lies that get accepted at face value for the 1000th time because people don't seem to learn or have a memory, redundant plot twists) then it sours for me. It doesn't have to be too much like The Wire (real world agendas and complicated politics). I like it right in the middle in believability. So it's a great show with good writing, but it just could have been done better the last few episodes. It's a weak complaint, and I'm only criticizing because I like the show a lot and always hope for the best when it comes to quality programming.
I remember when this first came out earlier this decade - I missed episode 1 and when episode 2 came on - i watched it and thought it was an awesome show. but since i missed episode 1, i decided i'd wait until it was released on dvd. then i plain forgot about it. fast forward to summer 2008, and my brother-in-law asks me if i've ever watched this show. I tell him this story and he gives me seasons 1 and 2 on dvd - and i spent the next 5 weeks watching seasons 1-6 on dvd and just caught up to season 7 about a month ago. i can't believe it took me so long to get on this show. this is probably my 2nd favorite tv show of all time - right behind "The Sopranos"
to each his own, as they say, but i dont see how anybody who has sat through both the entire sopranos series and the shield wouldn't say the shield absolutely blows it out of the water. i was a sopranos fan at the beginning, but it declined rapidly season to season, and nothing really happened. just a bunch of teases and disconnected storylines. the shield is the exact opposite. by the time the sopranos ended, it had gone from being one of the best shows ever to possibly the most overrated show of all time.
I agree with Kim that the final season started off rather dull. It had it's moments and the plot was getting a little, and I mean little, dull. In retrospect, this was the best that could've happened. It set up this last episode to be a memorable one. I still can't stop thinking about it. Haha.
What an unbelievable episode last night! Seeing Vic confess all his sins was very powerful. Vic is a sociopath. He goes from refusing to sign the immunity document one minute in order to protect Ronnie then preceeds to implicate him shortly after. I'm not sure how it is all going to end next week. My prediction is Aceveda dies a horrible death via the Cartel and Vic manages to live but is disgraced forever. I'm certain Shane is going to die, i'm just not sure if it'll be from someone else or if he'll commit suicide.
shane committing suicide would be too much of a movie cliche in my opinion. hope that doesn't happen. i predicted a few weeks ago that aceveda would end up killing mackey as vengeance for the crowley murder, truly bringing the series full circle. i suppose that outcome still exists. any other predictions?
Spoiler From the previews of the finale, it shows Vic locked up at HQ in the interview room. I'm really curious of how that situation comes about. Is Claudette trying to sabotage the sting so that Vic can't get immunity. I'm really looking forward to the show.
quoting a spoiler is not a good idea. still didn't read it. this is gonna be one hell of a series ending. I'm sad to see it go.
The entire series or what? Anyways, tonight is the season finale. If you guys have been watching, you guys would agree that this last season has been amazing. Watching the last episode, I never felt so nervous and anxious for a tv show. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. So sad that this show is coming to an end.
