    More observations:

    - Maybe it's just me, but after at least 2 seasons of having "moles" at CTU, I would think they would install a security system to monitor every room in the organization. Thus, Gael shouldn't have been able to sabotage the internet router so easily.

    - Also, how the hell can Michelle just pull up a video feed of her husband's surgery? Can CTU patch into EVERY network? Do they have a revolutionary little black box like the one in the movie Sneakers?

    - At first, I was sympathetic to Chloe, because everyone hated her. Now, I see why. She's annoying and rude. Here's hoping she gets eaten by a cougar.

    - Chase STILL sucks. I keep picturing Johnny Depp's "21 Jumpstreet" character for some reason whenever I see him...

    - My dreams of a dead Kyle Singer were dashed last night. Drat. So... they've found the virus (rather quickly). Now what? Where's the plot heading? Another crisis? Will Kyle escape or be kidnapped?

    - Is it me, or is Linda, Kyle's girlfriend, the "new Kim?" She wears skimpy clothing, and she's already been kidnapped once.

Okay, time for me to join in on the 24 disusion now that I've finally managed to watch all the episodes I've been recording over the past couple of weeks.

I swear, the show achieves a level of intensity that can hardly be touched, and the primary reason...Kiefer. He is to 24 as Duchovony was to X-Files, except to an even greater extent.

Just wait, something's going to happen soon that unlocks the conspiracy, and EVERYTHING will have some connection to it, including the presdient's girlfriend. I can tell you this, the drug dealer dudes are NOT the REAL bad guys. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the girlfriend of Hector is the one who's involved in the real conspiracy. I mean think about it. He's ugly, cruel, stupid, and abusive. Yet the hot senorita is involved with this guy? I don't think so.

    (SPOILERS BELOW)

I think they are really pushing it this time. Yesterday's episode means that Jack now should legally be tried for murder if he ever shows up anywhere again. He instigated a prison break that led to at least two dead prison guards. There's no getting around that. Even if he gets pardoned or whatnot, this is the first time (that I can remember) he's caused innocents to die by doing his own thing. I don't know where they are going with the show, but it would be hard to justify making him a full-time agent again after that.

I gotta ask... Why didn't anyone even try calling Jack's cell phone? Hell, he may have answered. Especially Chase in the final scene.

    Ring...

    Jack: "What?"

    Chase: "We got Singer, Jack."

Jack: "OK, I'm coming down, let's go get a beer"

    Chase: "Cool."

The scene in the jailhouse was incredible. The Russian Roulette. How did Jack know that the next hole in the chamber would house the lone bullet? No way he could have counted the rotations when the jail house leader randomly turned the (whatever that thing is called that holds the bullets. as you can see, my knowledge of guns is minimal).

Overall, decent episode. The plotline involving the president is getting tiresome.

I'm looking forward to the coup that occurs in mexico between the brothers.

    Chloe is indeed annoying.

This greasy haired mole is annoying too. You guys are right. With all the moles around, you'd think they'd up security just a tad.

And, per usual... I turned off the TV before the "scenes from the next episode" segment b/c FOX gives away WAY TOO MUCH! The only hard part is always being ready to turn off the radio and TV when the INCREDIBLE amount of commercials for the next episode of "24" are aired each week.

If you look at the front of a revolver you can see 4 of the 6 chambers. You can see if a bullet is in one of them. If it is not then it is either at the 12 o'clock position or at the 6 o'clock position. If Jack did not see the bullet then it was either next or he would have to pull the trigger 3 times for it to fire. That's what I figured happened.

I rarely shout out at the TV, but this is precisely what I did on this rare occasion. Of course, he could at the onset of the next episode.

First, I thought if 24 hadn't jumped the shark when Kim was working for CTU, then it certainly did whenever she was the one that discovered that Gael was the traitor and where Jack/Salazar were...

    then, she got kidnapped.

    The world is right again.

I'm with everyone else that they need to tighten up the hiring process there at CTU.

    Right on time too.

I wonder who the real virus carrier is though.

Too bad Kim is smart enough to work at CTU but not clever enough to use the leverage she had in the current situation with Cael (sp?)

If a gunshot goes off in CTU, there's no way Cael gets out alive. She could have run and there was no way in hell Cael could shoot her without security taking him down and him blowing his cover.

Alas, this is the Kim we know and love.

I thought for sure a cougar was going to come into that room and terrorize her. :(

Enough is enough for stupidity on the show. That is the one thing that really irks me. Enough with Kim being kidnapped or doing stupid things. For such a SMART show why they have to add these idiotic elements is beyond me.

I wish she would have gotten shot in the first season instead of the mom (who BTW is outstanding on the new 'Line of Fire' show on ABC).

In the "preview" they said something about the room being "sound proof" and that her screaming wouldn't do any good. So that shoots down your gunshot sound theory.

Personally, I would have preferred that when she saw the video footage she was smart enough to patch that footage IMMEDIATELY into the main CTU area for others to see. Then Cael's leverage would have been zero. But instead she panics (which is a great sign for a CTU agent). Clearly she had her suspecions about Cael but instead of trying to back up the files somewhere or send it somewhere she panics and tries to leave only to find Cael there. Idiot.

When 24 does the smart thing (like the scenario I mentioned of what she could of done) I love the show. When 24 does the stupid thing, like what she actually did, it pisses me off.

    Stay smart 24.

Um, I think there's one teeny little thing ya'll are forgetting: Kim is dumb. There's two prior seasons of pure stupidity to back me up in my claim, too. To suggest that she should suddenly act totally different in the face of adversity (a.k.a. intelligently) is like suggesting Moochie Norris should learn to be an all-star. She is who she is:

    Kim, the perpetual hostage.
    Kim, the liability.
Kim, the destroyer of good plans.
Kim, the advancer of ridiculous plotlines.

And I, like RM95 and drapg, welcome and embrace the old Kim, whom I thought was dead and buried. :)

But why "dumb down" the show? It takes AWAY from the SMART things that go on on the show. If you say she should not "smarten" up because of her past character flaws then so be it. Then I say she should not be hired at CTU and we never see her again.

How about we have some good plans be destroyed by SMART means instead of fumbling?
How about we not have ridiculous plotlines that takes AWAY from the show? How about have liabilities, not by being stupid but by one person just outsmarting another.

In other words, dont have people dumb down, but have other people "outsmart".

Bottom line, Kim's plotlines take away from what is generally a nice fast paced SMART show. Leave the dumb ass crap to bad horror movies.

But not everyone is smart in a workplace, even one as tough to get into as CTU (I assume, based on the rigorous interview sessions and background checks I underwent when applying for an FBI internship in college).

Kim brings a bit of realism to the show, someone the normal person can relate too. There aren't too many uber-humans like Jack Bauer roaming the country. She's the perpetual damsel in distress, and she plays the role to a tee. Watching her in a "take charge" attitude at CTU was just unatural.

Her role doesn't make the show dumb, or dumb it down. It just adds a touch of reality.

Plus I think the audience is supposed to assume Kim got her job partially due to nepotism. (She has skillzzzz, as she proved to that one dude who is overprotective of all the computers, but let's get real!)

    Point taken. Fair enough.

I guess I look at her actions and find that I personally would not do any of the stupid things she is doing and it irks me.

This will probably sound condecending and I don't mean it that way to anyone.....but if people find that they can relate to her dumb actions then so be it, but I can't.

I am not saying everyone has to be uber-Baur...but at least be someone smart like a Michelle or something like that. In other words, don't ALWAYS have Kim do dumb stuff, have her do some smart things too. Balance it out some. Then she doesn't always look like the dolt of the show.

Kim is still hot and she can work for me anytime... ;)

Last night was pretty awesome, but I don't get why/how Kyle isn't infected...

Actually, they HAVE been doing that. Up until last night, Kim has been smart, resourceful, and instrumental to CTU's efforts. But, as drapg said, she's the perpetual "damsel in distress," so she gets herself kidnapped by Gael. I'm sure she'll outsmart him to escape. Just hold in there, Deuce. To borrow from Seinfeld, "Dumb Kim" will not kill "Smart Kim." A Kim divided cannot stand! :)

Also, you think this show is smart? The freaking military was worried that a small helicopter crash in downtown L.A. would cause severe collateral damage (WTF?). The president cancelled a debate to make a 5 second decision. Chloe is able to patch into the helicopter's intercom thingy. Michelle can somehow watch her husband's surgery from the comforts of her office desk. The idiot mole (Gael) actually operates within CTU (as opposed to... oh say... stepping outside to make a call). CTU doesn't have surveillance on its own building (after last season's bomb explosion?!?!). C'mon. The show is NOT smart.

... But it is badass. :)
