Yeah, but the "worse" players are playing a lot more than the "better" players: Altuve - 67 plate appearances in September Correa - 65 Gattis - 59 Springer - 55 And then here's your group: Rasmus - 49 Lowrie - 45 Gomez - 42 Marisnick 26 Between Altuve, Correa, Gattis and Springer, they've collectively missed 1 start in September* * Springer actually missed three starts, technically; he was in Corpus on rehab. But he's started every game since his return.

Certainly true - but again, at hte end of the day, the team is scoring MORE runs this month than last. And before the last two days, they were actually outscoring their opponents this month despite their 4-9 record or whatever. There just isn't a lot of evidence that the team (outside of the bullpen) is really playing any differently than they have all season. But they were winning lots of close games in the past, and now with the bullpen failing, they are losing all those close games. The last two games either are the start of a bad change in how they are playing or an anomoly - that's yet to be seen.
Yeah, I don't disagree. As I've been saying throughout this thread, I think it's mostly random and a big bag of bad luck/timing. Hopefully, they can bounce back. Boy, it'd be nice if a big, energetic crowd showed up this weekend.
I'd say on the road, they're losing every sort of game, every which way (not just the close ones/bullpen failures)... not hard to do when you're 9-29. It really is amazing that I can single-handedly recall every single win they've had on the road since July (as if they're an NFL football team)... and even some of those were improbable/uncomfortable wins. The home games have also been a little skittish since the Detroit series, but just a tad bit more of a comfort level has apparently gone a long way to getting guys production to not suffer from the road (combined with fatigue) effect as much.
The season is definitely not over. But our chances of making the post season have lessened dramatically over the last week or so. But it all comes down to how we play the next 15 games vs how the Rangers play their remaining games. Their is easily enough games to make up a 2.5 game deficit. But either luck or better play is going to have to favor us the rest of the way to say there is a good chance.
Ok.... it is now... still not bad considering that most felt it was on freakin September 15th! Respect the 162 game season... as well as the flukey playoffs. Good takeaway points from this year... and bigger things expected for next.
Yea, good thread. We backed our way into the playoffs with some help from the Rangers, but winning the WC game was awesome.
