Bad game but I don't think a single game will cost Houston an opp at FAs. We are a top 4 team in the NBA, top 3 in the West - players will be interested in playing in this system.
Hayward not leaving Utah. Lowry leaving Raps but ESPN sources said he's going to the 76ers (for god knows why) Paul George wants out of Pacers but he wants to head to LA (probably Clippers) OKC going hard for Blake Griffin Pelicans going hard for CP3 Milsap is old af and rumors are Toronto is interested in him (since Lowry is leaving) What other star can we realistically acquire?
Paul George would be great. But I'm concerned about Ryan Anderson. When he can't hit from 3, he's a liability on both ends of the court. And the fact that he demands so much money is not good.
we need another star that is capable of controlling the game and taking over the offense when Harden is undergoing 1 of his meltdowns
Anderson, HArrel, and #1 for Milsap Maybe Lou . . . . . . The CORE of this team: Harden, Beverly, Capela, Gordon Second Core - aka Painful to part with but will for the team - Ariza, NeNe, Dekker, Harrel, Troy Williams, Onauku Everyone else is trade bait . . . . Anderson + ONe peive from Second Core + anyone else + maybe a draft pick - second round for Milsap Rocket River
Not gonna happen through FA Not gonna happen through draft We don't have enough assets to trade Our only hope is the development of Clint , Dekker , or Harrell . Maybe in 2-3 years Zhou Qi has the physical tools to pull it off . Best fit next to James is a wing . Someone who can take the kick out pass and either drill the shot or take it to the hoop for a thunderous dunk . Oh and play great D
We need to dump this dude because of his home and road splits. That **** is just silly and not worth it. Dude looks like Dirk-lite on the road and looks like a NBDL player at home. Consistently. He can go do that for someone else.
Agreed. Although people are bringing up Harden as a player we should trade (for whatever reason), if we can somehow move Ryan Anderson to move closer to a second star, that would be way more preferable than keeping Anderson and trying to sign a Hayward.
Ideally yes , but what team wants this dude ? Even if they are giving up nothing , he's getting paid 20 mil for the next 3 years guaranteed. He's a huge dead contract and won't have value till he's expiring . We would have to GIVE UP value to dump his salary , even more value if we plan on getting anyone of note. Given that we already gave up our first ... We don't have that value . Dekker , Harrell , onuaku , Joe shee , multiple guys from that group need to go out with him if we get so much as a warm body from the trade . To get anyone of note we'd have to talk about throwing in Clint . Anderson has likely been moreys biggest mistake . Well , maybe hiring dantoni too . Frankly I'd rather have ****ing Dmo at this point lol . Even if he is a shell of himself he isn't as big of a p***y .
we don't have the assets to trade for a star without blowing up the team. if we get rid of ryno's contract we can go after a major FA while keeping a 55 win team in tact. hayward and blake are the most tempting but we are probably out of the running for both. hayward's got a younger team who's already nearly as good as us and they can offer more money. his second option would be his college coach in boston. blake will also either stay for the money or go to boston to try to get to the conference finals. we're left with millsap who in many ways is a much better fit than either blake or hayward. he provides much needed post defense and some inside scoring, but also gives us shooting and passing. he's a decent go-to scorer as well. the only downside is he's on the wrong side of 30 and signing him to a long term max contract only means this could be a terrible contract in 2 years. i'd almost rather let dallas get handcuffed by that deal. next up is ibaka but he's not the defender he used to be and isn't so much better than ryno that we have to dump him after 1 season. we most likely end up just using the cap space on a center like monroe, dedmon, olynyk, baynes. bring back a similar roster and end with another second round exit. the only thing that can get us to the next level is james mental capacity.
Speaking of DMO... We desperately needed him this series. Stretches the floor, can score in the post, it's a shame what happened between him and the team. He could have really made his name in the NBA this year but instead decided to rot on the bench in New Orleans.
I've got no love for Dmo anymore . His decisions and attitudes made me think less of his character and I don't want a player like that on the team .... Granted maybe I don't know the whole story ( maybe the rockets really did **** him) Even on the court , because he's rotted away I've got no option but to assume the injury altered his potential forever and that he can never play at the same level again . Skills can compensate to a certain extent, but if he's below the baseline athleticism needed to play the 4 or 5 then he's done . In a perfect world , I will always wonder what could have been if we got 14-15 Dmo vs Ryan Anderson . But that is just a fantasy.
A 2nd legitimate star player that can take over games when Harden has games like tonight is a must to get through the play offs. The rockets are dependant on harden and when he has an off game the entire team looks lost. We tried this formula with Howard but he was never really a go to player that can carry you consistently either, not at his age anyway.
Having a bunch of good role-players arent going to beat the Warriors. The Jazz are the team with a bunch of great role-players and they got steam-rolled by the Warriors. We need 2 more stars along with decent role players to even compete with them. Even then they are still the heavy favorites.
Paul George and Jimmy Butler should both be available. Both are elite two way players. If the Clippers lose Chris Paul they could blow it up. Maybe Deandre Jordan becomes available? Capela has looked really good lately so I'm not sure that's the answer but there were many times this season I thought Deandre would be all we need to put us over the top. I really think the answer is somebody like Paul George who we can play at the 4 instead of Ryan Anderson. Anderson has got to go. If he isn't hitting shots (and it's so frequently) he's just worthless.
I can believe Hayward staying, PG not forcing a trade to Houston. But you think CP3, Griffin, Lowry and Milsap will be changing teams, and that the Rockets will loose out against all 4 to the Pelicans/OKC/Raptors/76ers? Doubt it. Rockets are by far the best team out of that bunch, have the largest market out of all those teams, plus we have no state tax and a Chinese market boost. Holiday, Ibaka, Hill, Gallo, are 4 more solid names to add to the list, not stars but above average starters.
Someone needs to GIF Capela's pathetic attempt at a jump hook that completely missed the rim. He's made major strides especially on the defensive end, but I really want a big man that can score in the post and has 3pt shooting range. I'm still all about D Cousins
