Of these, Cintron stands out to me for some reason and I wish I could say why. But I don't know why. I like this list and everyone on it.
He can't manage a clubhouse after he let the PR guy provide drugs to players leading to Skaggs death. I mean how plugged in are you if your players on loading up on painkillers and you're completely unaware?!?! Crane has to have PTSD with Hinch and Lunhow being "in the dark" and would likely avoid anyone with a similar past.
Man…just realized Bruce Bochy was the Padres coach in 1998. 98 still stings and more than ‘23. What a great coach. Hopefully there’s someone like him available
I don't understand why Mike Shildt isn't being discussed. He's connected with Luhnow from his time with Cards, and is a former Manager of the Year. He seems progressive, and is defense and baserunning savvy, which is an area I think the team can improve.
Danny Lehmann would be an interesting choice. Cerebral former catcher - from The Woodlands and then had a great career at Rice... long timer minor leaguer... It would be an unconventional choice... but he's a high powered intellect. Opposite of Dusty, who is long on experience and short on smarts... Crane/Brown may prefer someone who they can control fully... especially after Dusty bucking them the last 2 years.
He comes across as kind of vanilla to some people and a lot of teams have wanted something different. He is the safest pick - and not a pushover either.
