but with yao in there, the team really wasn't looking for them. they were looking for yao to set up in the post. this season the main focus is getting easy baskets. i would assume there would be a decent jump from 9.5 (after the trade) to at least the league average (if that's still around 12). however that doesn't say much, when our strength may only be good enough for the league average... and our half court game will be weak, as well as our defense. it will be a long season for sure.
So here's another person who thinks that this year's Rockets team -- basically the same one that took two of the last four from the Lakers in the playoffs -- is the WORST team Rick Adelman has ever coached in his entire NBA career. WTF are you guys smoking?!?
With Yao, this team would be projected to win maybe 55. You really think Yao makes that much of a difference? He's a great player, but he's not the difference between a 30 win team and a 55 win team.
I think 40 is achievable, maybe 45 if Tracy comes back strong and can sustain himself. ( A tall order though). What I'm looking forward is the growth and integration of the youngsters within a team concept. I know I've said this on many an occasion,I value experienced role players like Luis and Shane, but we aren't going to go far with them,Yao and Tracy plus the others. I don't believe in tanking, but I think we need to trade the vets and rebuild while hoping to get higher picks and eventually cap room.
